Today is the day for the show and the whole city has never been more excited since the war broke out. I headed towards my apartment from work  that was few blocks away  to get ready for tonight's show.

While walking on the side street, I explored the stores on my left that displayed different kinds of things such as gowns and suits, ornaments, flowers, antiques, etc. Just as I was passing by an alleyway I heard unusual bang sounds as if a fight was happening.

Curiously, I walked towards the alley and silently making sure not to be the center of attention. I was furious when I saw a small guy getting beaten up by another guy who was three times the size bigger than him.

As usual, my anger got a hold of me and I barged in. "Hey! Get out of here before I break your bones." I threatened him with a dead glare.

Both of them looked at me and the bully scoffed. He looks at the smaller guy, spits out his gut and then smirks at me. "Come here sweetheart, you and I can have a little fun. I am done with this loser anyways."

He starts to walk towards me and I quickly grabbed his arms to flip him over on the ground. He groans and stands up with confusion and anger.

"How dare you? " He yells and comes charging at me.

For my defense, I kicked him on his shoulder hard enough for him to sway and punched his nose followed by a hard kick on his soft spot that he instantly covered it with both of his hands, crying out and wailing as he falls to his knees.

I smirked as I felt a sense of victory. "Now get out of here, before I actually break your bones!"

Desperately he tries to stand up and walk away while wincing in pain. As he leaves, he yells, "You will pay for this!"

Fearlessly I replied, "We will see about that", and gestured him to leave.

I turned around and walked towards the injured man. To my surprise it was the same blonde man that I saw in the restaurant a few days ago. Worriedly, I examined to check whether he suffered any major injuries. Minor bruises and small cuts here and there. What broke my heart was he took all the beating and fought back despite knowing the odds.

I made a mental note. Need to work harder to make the Project Rebirth successful so that he can be helped.

"Uh, thank you ma'am. For.. your help." he said shyly, not looking at me as he started brushing off the dirt from his clothes.

"You don't have to thank me for that. How about we go get you cleaned up? You have to get those bruises and cuts get treated." I coaxed as I lowered myself to his level so that we could look at each other.

He smiled shyly and nodded with agreement.

"Sometimes I think you like getting punched." We both turned to the voice behind us as we heard someone approaching.

A very tall, brunette and a handsome figure man, dressed in a military uniform stood behind us. It was the same friend who was at the restaurant too!

Did he just say that this little guy get punched a lot? I thought as I looked back at the smaller blonde man.

The small man replies him, "I had him on the ropes." The latter scoffs and looks at me with curiosity.

In a split of a second, he smiles and offers for a handshake as he introduces himself.

"My name is James Barnes, ma'am. Thank you for saving my little friend here." and points at the small man.

"Rogers. Steven Rogers." he shyly introduces himself.

Sweetly looking at them I said, "Teresa. Teresa Stark." and returns the handshake.

"I must say, a beautiful dame like you coming and saving this poor little guy is very chivalrous of you." James says as he smiles at me.

"It was nothing major. Not every woman needs a saving." I replies confidently.

Confused at the thought, I asked him "How did you know I saved him?"

James gives a small chuckle, "I am his best friend. I know him very well. And witnessing the poor guy running out of here kinda gave away the scenario."

I made an "oh I see" expression.

Steve clears his throat and hesitantly tries to thank me again for saving him. He must be embarrassed by the fact that a girl just saved him. Hehe.

James picks up a paper from the ground and asks "How many times is this Steve?"

I looked at the paper and saw that it was a rejected application for the army.

"Oh, you from Paramus now. You know it's illegal to lie when applying for the military, right? Seriously, New Jersey?"

Steven looks surprised and continues to brush himself off. "You got your orders?"

Smooth. I thought.

James proudly answers his question, "The 107th. Sergeant James Barnes. Shipping out for England first thing in the morning tomorrow."

Steven sighs in disbelief and disappointment. "I should be going."

James gives a "I don't know what to say" look.

Oh okay. This is awkward for us.

"I think everyone deserves the best in life." I reassured Steven with a smile.

Immediately they gave their charming smile as a response.

James then puts his arm around Steve's shoulder,"Come one man. It's my last night. Gotta get you cleaned up."

Steven and I looked at him confused and he asked him, "Why? Where are we going?"

Bucky says "The Future" as he look at both of us while handing Steven the newspaper displaying a picture of an advertisement "World Exposition of Tomorrow."

"Will you be there Teresa? It would be nice to have company for dancing later." James asks with a puppy face.

"Of course!" I smiled as I walked along with them.

Seems like I made some friends. I thought.
