Fireworks were shinning brightly in the night sky. Music could be heard and lights were beaming in the venue for celebration. My brother has always been the kind of person to do things in a grand scale which kind of annoys me. But, I can't blame him since he worked so hard to earn a fortune.

I get off the car dressed in a simple, navy blue dress with my hair tied up in a bun. It is a good thing that I chose to wear a low heel shoe for the sake of comfortableness. Often, I was told that Howard and I look very similar. Brunette, light brown eyes, pale skin, and a sharp nose. Although I am slightly shorter. Slightly.

Many people were dressed up and happily walking around. It was like a carnival. Couples walking hand in hand, friends fooling around each other and officials discussing topics probably related to war. I walked to the backstage to greet my brother and give him my best wishes to support him. He tends to get nervous but not as severe as my anxiety attacks.

I struggled to reach to him in the crowd.

"Hey brother." I put my hand on his shoulder while his back was facing me. He turned and gave me the  best smile he could ever give and immediately embraced me, "Hey little sister. I am glad you made it too."

"I couldn't miss it for anything. After all, my brother is the highlight of the show." I said.

"Thank you." my brother said as he pats my head lightly and I smiled.

Our sweet moment was cut off when a girl came to escort my  brother.

"Maybe you should go see where Dr. Erskine is and I will meet you later for dinner?" my brother asked as he feels the nervousness flow through his body.

I replied, "Okay. Good luck!" and gave him a peck on his cheeks.

I see my brother walk to the stage as the anchor welcomes him, "Ladies and gentlemen, please help me welcome Mr. Howard Stark." followed by a huge round of applause.

I left the stage and went on to find Dr. Erskine assuming he must be busy working on the Project Rebirth. He really doesn't know when to take a break. I sighed.

Dr.Erskine is like a father to me. He has known my brother and I ever since we were young. He was a close colleague to my parents. When our parents passed away, he supported us until we were able to stand on our own feet. And I have been working and assisting him in several projects ever since I was capable of.

I chose to go to the recruitment center hoping to find him there. Upon my arrival, I saw the place was crowded so I asked the receptionist where I could possibly find him. Following the instructions, I headed to the selection section and spotted him walking out of a room.

"Dr. Erskine!" I called out and ran towards him.

"Oh! Teresa, my dear. What are you doing here? Aren't you suppose to be with your brother?" he asked curiously with a smile.

"My brother told me to stay with you. Besides, I prefer accompanying you more than him in his silly shows. Is there anything I could help you with?" I asked breathlessly.

Waiting for his response, he examines me up and down with a questioning look, "With that outfit?"

Quickly realizing my attire, I asked him to give me few minutes to change into a nurse uniform that I borrowed from one of the nurses in the centre.

As I got out of the changing room, I headed to the room which Dr.Erskine instructed me to go. He wanted me to assist him in the selection process.

As I entered the room, I saw a familiar figure who was sitting nervously on a chair and trying to wear his boots hurriedly. Steven.

"Steven? What are you doing here?" I asked him as I walked towards him.

He stood up and walked closer to me with a frightening look. "Uh Hi..I am here to apply. And you?"

"Working." I replied.

"As a nurse?" he questions confusingly.

"At the moment, I am assisting a doctor Steven." He smiles faintly.

Knowing about his case, I took a look on his file that was placed on the table at the side of the room. Internally, I was worried about him getting into the army.

Personally, I am often on the training campsite and have experienced those environment. Not that I don't believe in him but logically based on his health condition, I was afraid it would be too hard on him.

"Steven, your health condition is not that strong. Are you sure you want to do this?" I asked him hoping he could change his mind.

He holds my hand with his desperate eyes. "Please Teresa, just give me one chance to prove myself. We all deserve the best in life."

I smile like an idiot at his last sentence.

"Okay Steven. I believe you." I blushed.

"Please call me Steve." he gives me the sweetest smile.

Our not-so-romantic moment was ruined when Dr. Erskine walks in and takes the file from me.

I notice Steve feeling intimidated upon the tension in the room. I mouthed silently with a reassuringly smile, "It's okay" and he returns a faint smile.

"So, you wanna go overseas? Kill some Nazis?" Dr. Erskine asks with his thick accent.

Confused with such an outright question, Steve replies, " Excuse me?"

The doctor  introduces himself as he walk towards Steve. "I am Dr. Abraham Erskine. I represent Strategic Scientific Research" extending his hand out for a handshake.

Steve immediately stands up and returns the handshake. "Steve Rogers."

Dr. Erskine nods with appreciation and looks at his file. I stood there nervously and secretly hoping that Steve could impress the doctor successfully.

"So, where are you from Mr. Rogers? Is it Queens? or Pa-ra-mus? Five exams in five different cities." Steve cuts him off with a nervous look. "That may not be the right file!"

Immediately Dr. Erskine replies, "It is not the five exams that I am interested in. It's the five tries. But, you didn't answer my question? Do you want to kill Nazis?"

Steve nervously look at me and then look at Dr. Erskine. "Is this a test?"

"Yes." Dr. Erskine replies slightly getting restless.

Steve takes a moment and answers, " I don't wanna kill anyone. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they are from."

Surprised and proud of his answer I looked at the doctor to see his reaction. I see him nodding his head with a slight smile on his face. "Oh. There are already so many big man fighting in this world. Maybe all we need now is a little guy, huh? I can offer you a chance. Only a chance." Steve's face light up.

Instantly, Steve takes up the offer. "I'll take it!"

"So where is the little guy from, actually?" Dr. Erskine asks again.

"Brooklyn." Steve smiles.

Dr. Erskine stamps the application approved and hands it over to Steve. "Congratulations, soldier."

The doctor walks up to me and smiles, "You may want to keep an eye on him." and walks out of the room.

Excitedly, I rushed to Steve and hugged him. "Congratulations Steve! I am so happy for you."

I noticed that he was surprised at my sudden approach and before I pulled away he embraced me back warmly. I smiled happily at the thought that he finally achieved what he wanted.

"Come on, I will get changed and then we can go meet James to have some fun!" I grabbed his hand as we walk  out of the room. I could have sworn that I saw Steve blush crazily when I hold his hand.

I am excited for what the future unfolds for us!  I thought.
