Silence.
"Jasmine, who was that?" He asks again as I pass him Gigi.
"He's my friend. His names Gianni." I explain fixing my top.
"Your boyfriend?" Asks Enzo.
"No just my friend. He's been really nice to me since I've moved here and we do spend quite a lot of time together." I explain moving to my own space on the sofa.
"It's just another guy being around her that I don't know... I'm just being protective I guess." He smiles moving Gigi loser to him.

We sit there in complete silence for the next 30 or so minutes. When there's silence between us it's not necessarily a bad thing. When we used to date it was just the fact of being in each other's company that was nice. Then my phone pings. Gianni- Sorry if I made it awkward when I left. Thanks for letting me have a little sleep. I might stop by tomorrow but I'll let you know.-
I smile. Out of all my friends I've made while being here he's been the most consistent I think.

Gigi's coughing brings me out of my little thought. I look over and she's paler than she was five minutes ago. I pick her up moving her close to me and she keeps coughing and then the crying comes. "I'm just going to change her. clean diaper, clean outfit. She might settle." I smile trying to hush her crying.
I place her on her mat and unbutton her baby grow. When some little red spots on her chest catch my eye. I touch them and I there hot to touch. I quickly change her diaper and take her and downstairs to Enzo in quite a panic. "Enzo she's got these red spots on her chest and she's coughing and quite hot. I'm not sure what to do but I want to take her to get checked out." I say in a rush putting my shoes on.
"Yeah of course I'll go get the car started if you get her in her car seat and bring it down." He smiles walking towards the door.
As I step out the door I see a look of anger on Enzo's face. "What's wrong?" I ask moving down the stairs and towards the car.
"It's not starting. Fuck, it's not starting!" He shouts kicking the wheel of the car.
I put down the car seat and pull out my phone. Gianni. It rings and rings and then it cuts off.
I press his name again and he answers. "Hey Gianni can you come to mine. We have to take Gigi to the ER, she's got some spots, a fever and coughing... please be quick." I say over the phone.
"I'll be quick. I'm just getting in the car.
I'll see you soon." He says hanging up. The silence this time between me and Enzo is different. One of worry and sadness. "Gianni's on his ways." I explain sitting down beside the car seat. Gigi begins to scream and it's not just a little cry like normal but one that sounds like she's in pain, a cry that I've never heard before. I unclip her from the car seat and pick her up holding her close to me. I stand and sway from side to side. This normally settles her yet it's not working. I move my top and see if she will feed and she refuses which really begins to scare me. "Jasmine can I?" He asks holding out his arms. I nod and pass her little body over to Enzo. Her cries stop just for a minute while she coughs and then come back. I move my eyes from Gigi and Enzo to Gianni's car that has just turned into the driveway.

"Enzo I'll take her if you can run into the house and get her bag. I forgot all about it. I'll get her into the car and we'll just be out here." I explain taking Gigi off of him and holding her close. He smiles running his hands through his hair and out of my sight into the house. "I'll hold her if you put her seat into the car?" Offers Gianni moving towards me moving his arms to hold Gigi. I lift the car seat and clip it in when the crying slowly stops. He's swaying and humming "She's asleep, all the crying must have tired her out. You should sit in the back with her. If we go now we can dodge the traffic." He Explains moving to the side of the door and putting Gigi inside loosely placing the blanket on top of her. "Come on man, we're ready to go." He shouts to Enzo as he closes Gigi's door quietly. I clip in my seat belt and Enzo gets in.

The whole trip to the hospital Enzo and Gianni had been getting on. Talking about food and cars. When every couple of minutes I see Gianni checking on us. "And were here." Says Gianni shutting off the car. "My mom works here sometimes. I can give her a call see if we can be seen quicker" he says pulling out his phone and slightly walking away. Enzo takes the car seat and I get her bag and we rush in to get signed in.
"Hello I need to see a doctor for my daughter." I explain to the women at the front desk.
"Okay, so her name and age, your name and the problem." Smiles the women typing away.
"Her name is Giulietta Moretti, shes 7 weeks old and my names Jasmine Carter. She has these spots and a high fever and." The list goes on as I tap my fingers annoyingly on the desk.
"Hey my mom doctor Rosiello says I'm to ask for her or doctor Richard. It's for this baby here." He almost stutters.
The women behind the desk picks up the phone and at first I think how rude then I wait. "Hello doctor Rosiello says your to come to the front west desk. We have a 7 week old baby who needs checked over immediately." She says. She looks up from her computer and puts her hand on mine.
"Dr. Richards will be here in the next five minutes. There's a seating area just there... just remember and breathe." She comforted tapping my hand a little.
I give a small smile letting her know I'm grateful and go to a seat. She's still asleep but I know it won't be for long. When the doctor comes she'll need to be checked over, I place my hand on her head and feel that she's still very hot. "Hello Ms Carter, I'm Dr. Richards I'm going to be checking over your little one. Let's go to a room that's more private." We all stand up and follow this doctor. She has long dark brown hair that is kept out her face by a clip and when she walks her heels click along the floor.

"Now this room is one of the only completely free ones on the west wing so don't be struck by the big bed this room isn't normally for babies." She smiles standing at the other side of the bed.
I unclip Gigi from the car seat and lie her on the bed. I first take off her little cardigan and then undo the buttons on her baby grow.
"So is she feeding alright?" Asks the doctor.
"Yeah. I breastfeed and she's been really good at it. Today after I noticed these spots I changed her and checked her temperature. I knew it was high so I tried to feed her and she refused it. That's when I knew there was something wrong." I explain beginning to get quite light headed. I hold on to the side of the bed and notice that Gianni is aware of me being a little unstable.
"Okay so these spots... they could be Scarlet fever which could explain why she wasn't feeding as well as the spots or"
I hear her words as if they are being spoken in slow motion. The last thing I hear properly is her listing "meningitis." Then I feel my knees go weak and everything goes black.
