Finally

"OI, COME BACK HERE!"

I chuckle, watching as Mahiro chased our small son, who was running around the house, with an angelic smile on his face.

I held our daughter in my arms, still rocking her to sleep.

"Shh, she's trying to sleep."

"Sorry."

The six year old was gleefully running about with his father's fan, and his father was chasing the young one, desperate to get his treasured fan back.

"Give your father his fan back, Riku. "

Finally the boy stopped, laughing between his huffs and puffs. His father finally caught up with him, grabbing the smaller child by the ears.

"I told you not to mess with my tour stuff, haven't I?"

"Ouch, ouch, ow-"

"Honey, stop that he's merely a mischievous and curious little kid."

The raven-haired vocalist let go of his equally raven-haired son, calming his anger, and carefully prying the delicate fan out of his son's hands.

"Sorry, Papa."

The infant girl in my arms had begun to calm down, and was now asleep. Carefully, I tucked her into her cot beside Mahiro and my bed. Riku's bed lay in the next room, where he kept his toys and his books.

Shortly after, I heard the boy turning on the air conditioning in his room, signalling that he himself was about to go to sleep as well. Perhaps the running about gotten him tired out, so he was going to lights out earlier than usual.

Mahiro staggered in shortly after. I could hear his footsteps, heavy, probably exhausted from the chase, despite facing the complete opposite direction, admiring the full moon and the beautiful night. The stars littered the entirety of the night sky, like the sprinkles of white paint on a sea of black on the paintings of young children.

They reminded me of our first few memories together. The cafe, the rainy street. Pretty.

Suddenly, a pair of warm and surprisingly strong arms wrapped around my torso, and I felt his chin rest on my shoulder, as we both admired the stars that reminded us of all we had been through.

"Are you going to sleep soon? Or would you like to watch a movie or two while both the young ones are asleep?"

His breath seemed to tickle my ear, and I couldn't help but grin.

"Anime movie marathon?"

"Whatever floats your boat."

He picked me up bridal style, which shocked me a little and carried me out to the living room, setting me down gently onto the couch.

"Since when did you get so strong?", I asked playfully.

"When I had to carry both children and their toys, food, and more, when you spending at least 4 nights a week at rehearsals."

His grumpy tone had me holding back a laugh. I did feel a bit sorry. I had tried bringing our daughter, Aika into the rehearsals once, and that day, we barely managed to complete our agenda, due to me running around having to calm her down once in a while. I got several off days for my children, but ended up staying for longer periods of time during the other rehearsal sessions.

After a while, we had gotten comfy with a blanket covering both of us, as we snuggled into each other's warmth, a bowl of popcorn on the table in front of us. I flicked the channel on to the right one, and we began to watch the first movie by the name of "Can I Eat Your Pancreas?".

An emotional rollercoaster it was where the two of us found ourselves tighter in each other's embrace, tears rolling down our stained faces.

Mahiro got over it much faster than I had, and he spent the credits screening comforting me. I tossed some popcorn into my mouth, crunching on it to distract myself from the sudden dryness at the back of my throat.

We started off onto the next movie, a Pokemon one, which started on a rather joyful note.

We ended up enjoying a rather fun movie, and by the time the end credits were rolling up, both of us were tired out. I headed to the kitchen to grab a glass of water, drinking it before joining Mahiro in the bedroom.

He had already clambered into bed, and I could hear his light breathing. I slipped into bed behind him, careful not to disturb him.

As I shut my eyes, I heard him laugh a little, and his arms pulled me into his embrace. Well, that didn't turn out as expected.

"Got you."

I instantaneously smiled, unable to contain myself.

"It's late, let's sleep already..."

"Alright then... Good night."

"Good night."

I began drifting of to sleep, comforted by the rise and fall of his chest against my back.

Before knocking out, I heard him mutter something, but I couldn't hear it clearly.

[Mahiro's POV]

The night was awfully silent. Aika was crying much less now, and had grown by a fair bit since the half a year she was born.

Riku and [Y/N] often liked to take the fans I was to use in performances, and decorate the handle. It had become a habit to post the designs on twitter, but sometimes Riku took it too far.

Sometimes I wondered how I had gotten such a wonderful family. An adorable girl, a hyperactive boy, and a lovely wife.

Sometimes, I think that I never deserved this.

Sometimes, I felt that they did cause me just a little more stress.

But I never once saw them as a burden. I mean, how could I?

Ah, [Y/N]'s fallen asleep.

She looks so beautiful while she rests.

Tonight, the moonlight seemed to illuminate her features in a gentle way. The long eyelashes, the slightly agape, soft lips, the hair that seemed to stream down her back and shoulders.

Sometimes, I find myself grateful for all that has been given to me.

Perhaps I had been thinking for too long. I was finally overcome with fatigue, and fell asleep in the house where everyone involved the most now resided, a small smile imprinted onto my features.

Finally, the story comes to a close.

~End~
