I had joined the circus act as their trapeze artist. It was tough, but fun.
We travelled to several places, and most of the time tickets sold out quickly. I kept in touch with Mahiro often, but usually he would call late at night, probably 10pm. I would be packing up my stuff to travel to the next show, and he would be taking a break at the balcony of his hotel room, relaxing after a live.
Time flew past quickly. The day came when both our shows would be at nearby locations.
There was a knock on the door and the ring master called for me to prepare for the show. Mahiro said he'd be watching me again. I said I'd go to his live the day after, my day off.
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to our circus!... "
I waited anxiously backstage, alongside several other performers. Each one left in pairs or groups, and my partner was getting ready on the other end of the stage.
When it was my turn, I climbed a ladder backstage and dashed out onto the platform about 2 floors up. Looking down, my eyes swept past the crowd, giving everyone a dashing grin before falling backward off the platform.
Trust in your partner was really required. Mid fall, my partner swung past, feet hooking onto the trapeze bar, and grabbed me by the hands. I was then flung into the air as he released me, letting me do a spin before latching onto the second trapeze bar by my knees.
It was series of dangerous stunts, one after the other, never giving the audience any time to feel relieved by a catch or landing.
At the end of the show, I dashed back into the dressing room to change into more comfortable clothes, specifically a light t-shirt and shorts, and wash off the makeup.
There was a meet and greet session and interview for that show, and I had been chosen with 5 others to partake in it.
I was still slightly out of breath and my heart was still racing, but there was really no time to spare. I met up with the other members at the open air meet and greet session, and was immediately bombarded with flashes of cameras. I was used to such hospitality, especially because of school.
Clearly, a smaller boy who had been taken in by the circus felt a little uncomfortable, and began to curl up next to me. I was quite used to the little kid, who I had become close to over the circus tour.
The meet and greet session went rather smoothly otherwise. Part of me was rather disappointed when I didn't see Mahiro, but the tickets had honestly been sold out quite rapidly. Interview questions were mostly answered by the senior members of their circus, and I answered with short answers most of the time.
It was probably 9+ at night when I could finally leave in peace, and as I stepped into a nearby Starbucks for a cup of iced coffee, I spotted Mahiro and his bandmates chatting happily in a smaller corner of the shop.
He saw me too, and gave me a small wave. I paid for my coffee and was about to leave, but Mahiro gave me a call, inviting me to slip in with his bandmates. I mean, what harm could it do, right?
Everyone was really friendly to me, but clearly Takemasa and Hiyori had their eyes set on matchmaking, constantly teasing me and Mahiro. Apparently Hiyori had caught on that Mahiro was talking to me almost every night.
Junji on the other hand was like an overly enthusisatic older brother. And Mitsuki seemed to be trying to control the band, to no avail. Mahiro seemed a little apologetic that he had dragged me into "a mess", but I didn't mind. It seems the reason I was even called over was because of Takemasa and Hiyori too.
By some sort of coincidence, the hotels both groups stayed at were right next to each other, and even better- Mahiro and I could talk to each other from our balconies, which were located facing each other.
I was genuinely beginning to wonder how many coincidences and miracles had already been brought into my life. After a light shower, I stepped onto the balcony, where Mahiro was already at.
"Good show today. My heart nearly stopped when I saw you falling off the platform, and I nearly died when you seemed to be- "
We laughed as we recounted what happened during the show. We were interrupted however, by the sudden buzz of my phone, and at was greeted with an unknown number.
Hey! It's Takemasa. I see you're having some fun with Mahiro, just wondering after this location whether both of you will be hooking up again?
I read out the message, and Mahiro immediately looked to his left, where Takemasa could be seen watching us from his balcony about 5 units away. My god.
"It's late, shouldn't you go to sleep? You have a live tomorrow after all. "
"I'm writing lyrics. "
He waved a small notebook which I hadn't noticed on his table. I tried to peek over at the lyrics, but he shut it quickly.
"Though I suppose I should rest up so I can give my all tomorrow. Night. "He waved goodbye, stepping back in to his room, and drawing the shades. It's at this junction I notice that the rest of the Kiryu members have also been watching, as their messages flood my phone.
So, How's it going with Mahiro? Both of you seem pretty close. I'm Hiyori by the way.
Hey, I'm Junji. You seem quite buddy buddy with Mahiro, just becareful, and take care of little Mahiro, k? I got your number from Mahiro's phone, Takemasa and Hiyori were great sidekicks.
Thank god Mitsuki wasn't as bad... Yet somehow I woke up to one message from Mitsuki. Goodness gracious.
Hey ___, it's Mitsuki here. Good job on last night's performance! Just hope you'll know that the other members are just being playful, as they usually are. I apologize if they've made you uncomfortable in anyway.
Thank the gods Mitsuki knew better...

FanficI wrote this because honestly There aren't enough V-kei stories here, one of those V-kei bands being Kiryu. I do not write these for any specific person. I write them in my own free time when inspiration strikes. I apologize if the story turns out...
