A/N: this is just a nice song you should listen to while you read the last chapter if you'd like. It just gives me Childish vibes ig.😌 Thanks!

The rest of the year goes by as normally as it possibly can, considering the events that took place. Elle Greenaway's family hired a lawyer who's working on building a self-defense case for her, and it's looking good in her favor. She might not even have to go to prison, if his case is air-tight.

Cat managed to go the rest of the year without harassing Spencer, something that she found rather difficult, but she isn't quite done with him yet.

The day Spencer turned sixteen was a disaster of its own. He nearly crashed Aaron's car while taking his driver's test, and Aaron still won't let him forget it.

Spencer even grew to love his accidental pet. He bought her a green collar, and gave his little survivor a fitting name: Roslyn.

Maeve and Spencer ended up agreeing to just be friends, but their relationship will always be something special to them, no matter how brief it may have been. It was what taught Maeve how to love again, and how to learn that she was able to be loved by someone who didn't hurt her.

To say watching his friends- and girlfriend of almost eight months- graduate was emotional for Spencer Reid would be an understatement. He's grown so much over the past two years. He went from having one friend that he met in P.E. in middle school, to having a close group of people that would make him happier than he could ever imagine he'd be. It's nothing less than a miracle. Derek Morgan breaking Spencer's glasses really changed everything forever.

Emily, Aaron, JJ, and Penelope decide to go to the county fair with Spencer to celebrate the end of their senior year, and Spencer passing his AP tests with flying colors.

They spend the day in the petting zoo and going on rides. Their trip is really the definition of bittersweet; sweet because they're having fun, but bitter because it may be the last time they're all together.

After the sun sets, Penelope Emily and Aaron run off to go ride a roller coaster. JJ and Spencer are standing in line for the Ferris wheel, ride wristbands on their arms.

When it's their turn, JJ and Spencer step into the small bench of a seat. Spencer isn't exactly fond of heights, so JJ holds onto his hand. He makes a nervous squeak as the ride starts to move, sending their rickety cart high into the dark blue, star-speckled sky.

It isn't until they are stopped at the top that Spencer starts to calm down. He leans over the side and stares at the the carnival. The bright lights are almost mesmerizing.

"JJ, what am I gonna do after all of you are gone? I don't know how I can survive without you."

JJ kisses him, but mostly so he'll be quiet. When she pulls back, she runs a hand through his messy, wind-blown hair.

"Live in the moment, Spencer. This may be our last summer together. We can't afford to be worrying about what comes next."

Cat Adams walks into the field just outside of the carnival, twirling a pair of wire-cutters in her right hand. She ignores the voltage warnings on the metal fence gate and kicks it open, walking less than cautiously over to the electric generator for the whole carnival. She removes the panel of the generator with a screwdriver from her belt.

With one snip of a wire, the entire carnival is plunged into total and complete darkness. All of the rides and electronically powered games come to a halt, leaving Spencer and JJ stuck on top of the ferris wheel. Penelope, Emily, and Aaron, who are on the largest roller coaster at the fair, hold their breath when they feel their cart stop moving forwards. Penelope shrieks as it unsteadily plummets back down the hill it was climbing, at twice the normal speed.

Not every story has a happy ending. Not every story is wrapped up in a neat little bow. Nobody's story is perfect; no person, is perfect. But with these people- and with their lives? This is as close as it gets.

The End.
