As the realization dawned on her, Sophie's gaze intensified. She understood the implications – the man she loved would be her professor for one year.

"That means I'll have to call you Professor Snape, and for some reason, that feels strange," Sophie said, her voice tinged with a mixture of amusement and uncertainty. She stood up from the table and began to walk up the creaky wooden stairs, expecting Severus to follow.

"Only in formal settings, I don't see how it's that bad," Severus replied calmly, trailing behind her as they ascended.

But Sophie couldn't shake the awkwardness of the idea. 'That's because you don't realize how surreal it is to call you Professor when I've called you Severus for almost eight years... and that I've seen you as a professor in the future,' she thought, a hint of irony in her musings as she reached the top step.

"I will only be a teaching assistant this coming year," Severus said as he opened the door for her.

"I'm far too tired to contemplate these things this early, so I'm going back to bed. Don't wake me up if you want to live long enough to become a professor," Sophie playfully threatened as she re-collapsed onto the bed's soft surface, letting the blankets envelop her. She yawned, feeling the weariness settle in, knowing she'd fall asleep quickly.

Severus scoffed under his breath at her remark, admiring her tenacity even in moments of jest. He turned to go back downstairs, and a million thoughts raced through his mind. The future, the prophecy, his double role in the Order, and with Voldemort – it was all too much for one person to bear.

As Sophie drifted into slumber, the room became quiet, the only sounds being the soft crackling of the fireplace downstairs and the occasional distant hooting of an owl outside. Her dreams took her to wondrous places, filled with images of happiness and safety now that she had Severus back in her life, knowing that he would be safe, at least for now. The weight of the war seemed to lift off her shoulders as sleep wrapped its comforting embrace around her.

"I'll be back... in about three days, four at most, depending on how much energy I have by the end of tomorrow," Sophie said, her voice filled with a mix of determination and a hint of weariness. She had been packing and unpacking her bag repeatedly, ensuring she had everything she needed for the journey ahead.

"Just promise me you'll be careful," Severus spoke from the study, concern evident in his voice.

"No," she stated simply, a touch of defiance in her tone, "I can try, but I can't promise a positive outcome." Without missing a beat, she reached for a small vase next to the fireplace, containing a handful of gritty, green floo powder.

Severus rolled his eyes softly, realizing her stubbornness wouldn't be swayed. "Alright, alright, go on," he relented, giving her a slight push toward the fireplace.
