Chapter 9

I chased and screamed after Todoroki until he came to a complete stop, causing me to run right into his back. He was a head taller than me and barely moved when I ran into him. "Sorry! I didn't mean to hit you! You just stopped so fast and I didn't have time to stop! Please forgive me!"

He turned around and looked annoyed. "You apologize too much." For some reason, I felt small when he said that, which was a feeling I've never felt before. "Is that why you were watching Midoriya and me? To see how many more times I say sorry?" He sighs and turns and keeps walking.

"Hey! Wait up!" I follow behind him in silence, it wasn't the type of awkward silence I feel during meals at home though, it was a comfortable, almost normal feeling silence. We walk for a while until he speaks up. "What's up with you and that Midoriya kid?" I walk up next to him and let out a small laugh, "Is that why you were watching us?"

"Just answer the question." I sigh, "fine, we've been training together for a while. He' been having issues with his quirk..." I fall silent, I shouldn't have said that much, I need to change the topic.

"So what's your quirk? I wasn't paying too much attention during tests today." I could feel him tense up at my question, "ice... and fire."

Todoroki pov

"So what's your quirk? I wasn't paying too much attention during tests today." I tensed up at the question. I know she's trying to change the subject, she hiding something, but I can't let her know, so I answer,

"Ice... and fire." I shouldn't have said that, so why did I? I took a page from her book and changed the topic. "What's you dads quirk? I know your mothers but haven't heard much about your father."

"Well obviously I get the creation and healing part from my mom, so I get the destruction from my dad. Sometimes I think the only reason they ever got together was because my mother wanted a child like her. Sorry I talk too much."

"There you go with the apologizing again." I sigh before we fall silent again. It was a good kind of silence, comfortable. But good stuff never lasts long. "I got to go! Midoriya is waiting for me!" And with that, she was gone.

y/n pov

What was that! It felt so normal, so natural. I almost forgot about Midoriya. I run back to see him still standing there, no longer hunched over in pain. "Hey what took so long? I feel like I've been standing here for hours."

"Sorry about that, I got kinda distracted." He laughs while we start walking again. "You? Distracted? I refuse to believe that." I roll my eyes and just keep walking. "I'm gonna train for a little bit when I get home? Wanna join?" I look over at Midoriya, he just shakes his head. "I've had enough for today. As silly as it sounds, my finger is still sore from throwing that ball." He lets out a nervous chuckle, "Nah it's fine, I get it. I can heal you but it still hurts from a while after. I'll see you tomorrow!" I high five Midoriya and run home as a warm-up.

Time skip

I head to school in the mandatory uniform and my hair pulled back. At dinner, I sat and listened to my parents lecture me about how outrageous the uniform was. So I just nod and agreed with them, it's easier to agree than argue with them.

When I got to school I met up with Midoriya and we went through all our basic classes until we got to Basic Hero Training. All Might was waiting for us with his normal big smile. He explains to us that we'll get to wear our costumes during our first combat training exercise. We all change quickly and head over to ground B, which was the same arena that our entrance exam was in.

As All Might explained, we are gonna be split into 2 teams of 12, one-half heroes and the other half villains. The villain's goal was to guard a nuclear weapon, while the heroes had to either capture the villain or reach the weapon before time runs out.

The first team to compete was Midoriya and Uraraka against bakugo and Iida. Bakugo and Iida were chosen to be villains, which fit Bakugo perfectly but not Iida. Before their match, Bakugo wouldn't take his eyes off Midoriya, and I could tell it was just making Midoriya more nervous.

When their match started Madoriya was so nervous he was shaking, but Uraraka helped calm him down, they would be such a cute couple! I stand by All Might to watch their match, I was kind of nervous too. Bakugo had a powerful quirk and refused to lose, making him unpredictable.

Midoriya and Uraraka snuck into the building through a window, being slow and cautious. I lean over to All Might while keeping my eyes on the screen. "You know Midoriya is going to be reluctant about using his quirk, especially against another person."

"I know, but he's a smart kid, and with a supportive teammate like Araraka by his side he'll figure something out."

"I hope so, he can't afford to fall behind this early in the school year." In a split second, Bakugo flew out from behind a corner and threw an explosive punch at Midoriya and Uraraka. 

The match had officially started.
