Chapter 12

I never got the chance to see Midoriya after the training exercise today, so I decided to give him a call before I went to bad. The phone rang three times before he picked up. "Hey y/n what's up!" I put the phone on speaker and begin my nightly yoga routine. 

"I was just checking in on you. I didn't see you after you were taken to the nurse's office." 

"Oh yeah, I'm fine now! Just the usual lecture from Recovery Girl. I know what she's saying is true but I need to get control of this quirk." I could imagine his face right now and smirk. "The only way to do that is-"

"Yeah yeah, more training I get it! I just don't feel like it's helping that much though!"

"Hey!" I yell toward the phone, "I was actually gonna suggest making the quirk your own. Although you do need a lot more training if you're going to catch up to me, that's not what you need to be focusing on." I hear him sign into the phone, "What does that even meeeaaaannn?" He wines.

I was about to yell at him again until someone barges into my room. "Y/n m/n l/n why on earth are you being so loud! Do you think your father and I want to listen to you laughing and talking all night young lady?"

I look up at my mom a smile, "Sorry mom! I was just talking to one of my classmates about training today!" My mother gives me a look of disgust and gives a disappointing sigh. "Did I ask for an explanation? And it's Mother, not mom. You've been in class a week and you're already forgetting what your father and I taught you. I was wrong to let your father allow you to apply to that stupid school."

My heart sank, I thought she wanted me to apply? I push back that thought and apologize. "You're right mother. I'm sorry. It won't happen again." All she does is nod and leaves my room. I was about to head to the bathroom until Midoriya reminds me he's on the phone. 

"Are you alright y/n, that seemed kind of harsh." I continue stretching. "I'm sorry you had to hear that Midoriya, but there's no need for you to get involved in my silly family drama."

"Okay, I respect that, but can I ask one other thing?" I nod but remember he can't see me. "I guess, it's not illegal or anything." I hear him let out a soft chuckle before asking, "What's going on between you and Todoroki?"

I could feel my cheeks grow hot as U clear my throat. "Wh-what do you mean?"

"Oh don't play dumb! Uraraka told me about what happened between you two after All Might left. I was shocked when she told me you and him were laughing, on the floor especially. I've known you way longer than any of them and I've never even heard you chuckle!" 

"We were racing and just got caught up in the moment, it was nothing." I finish up my stretching and jump into the bed and lay on my stomach. "We were partners for the exercise today and were just celebrating with some friendly competition."

"Excuses. Do you liiiiiikkke hiim!?" I felt the blush even more and hide my face in my pillow. "Absolutely not! I can't and won't let a boy distract me for making my parents proud. If I let a boy get in the way of my goal I'll be just like every other girl my age, and that is not an option."

I hear Midoriya laugh and I contemplate throwing my phone across the room. "Well, if I just so happen to accidentally send you his number that would be kind of weird wouldn't it."

"I hanging up Midoriya. Goodnight." 

"Wait y/n n-"

I press end call and roll over until I hear a ding. I check my phone and see Midoriya sent me a phone number.

Oooh you and Uaraka?! I'm sensing a little romance between you two

Midoriya
didn't you say you had to go to bed? Goodnight y/n!

I rolled my eyes and stare at the number Midoriya sent me. Should I text him? We do make a great team, and if we trained together we could be unstoppable! plus he does seem like a cool guy to talk to. I decide to just send it cause what was the worse that could happen?

Hey! It's me, y/n! Midoriya gave me your number.

Todoroki
Hey, did you need a school assignment or something?

You
No, I just thought I'd text and say hi. We kicked ass today!

Todoroki
Yeah, we really did. And I totally beat you in that race too.

You
BS! I totally got there first. I know we don't have school or anything tomorrow, but I was wondering if you wanted to get together and train or something tomorrow? We make a pretty amazing team!

Todorokin
I was gonna train tomorrow anyways, so why not.

We ended up talking almost all night. It wasn't until 2:30 that we finally ended the convo and decided to meet at my house tomorrow at 12. And that was that, we said goodnight and I couldn't wait to see him tomorrow.
