Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

A pillow flew across the room and hit me, an indication I should turn off the alarm.

With an almighty smack, the incessant beeping stopped, and there was quiet again. Unfortunately, I was now awake, and didn't want to run late.

I rolled out of my bed ungracefully, glancing at my still sleeping roommate. The Trill woman rolls back over, mumbling some expletives as I turned on the lights. My'ya, my roommate, was a fifth year command student. Lucky for her, she didn't have her first class until nine.

For the first day of my last year here at Starfleet, I was not excited. A year away from becoming a Doctor seemed bothersome.

I pulled a regulation blue shirt over my head, surprised to see that it was more snug than it previously had been. The extra pounds I had gained over the summer definitely showed. I pulled my pants on and a pair of boots.

" Whattimeisit?"

I looked at My'ya, whose short hair was sticking up in all places.

" Six." I said, taking time to muss my curly hair into a respectable pony.

My'ya groaned before flopping back down,  " Too early."

I smirked at her before whipping some mascara and lip gloss on before grabbing my backpack and PADD.

" See you later, My'ya!" I called after my roommate.

She popped her head over the covers and gave me a sleepy smile, " Have a good first day, sweetie." She said sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes at her as I tugged on my leather jacket and left our dorm. As I made my way across the quad, I opened my PADD to look at my classes. My first class this year was Extraterrestrial Physiology and Anatomy, one I always looked forward to. Dissection was next on my agenda, but only occurred three days a week. After that it was Calculus-

Wait.

I frowned at my PADD, looking over my math class. I had already taken Calculus in my sixth year, why was I taking it again? And with a Vulcan?

Not looking where I was going, I ran headfirst into someone, sending the books in their hands flying. I reached down to pick them up.

" Oh my gosh, I-"

" Perhaps next time, Cadet, we look where we are going." A smooth voice said.

I looked up at the man, both annoyed and enthralled by his voice. His pointy ears indicated that he was a Vulcan, and he even had a stoic face to match.

" Sorry." I mumbled, picking up the books and handing them back to him.

" Yes, I imagine you are. Try not to knock anyone else off their feet today, Cadet." The man said before storming past me, grazing my shoulder with his own.

I glared at his retreating form, mumbling a few curse words at the Vulcan before continuing through the quad to the science building.

                              ΩΩΩ

I was nearly late for class after my endeavour with the rude Vulcan this morning, and consequently had to sit near the front. The Vidiian man who lectured at the front of the room gave no introduction, and simply went into the full physiology of his race. Time ticked by and we learned more about how the reproductive system of a Vidiian worked. Still fuming from my encounter this morning, I barely registered the professor calling my name.
