"Evelyn-"
I didn't usually mind it when someone moaned my name, but this was entirely different.
"Shove off." I said, pushing the needy man away from me.
It was a weekend night, and My'ya decided that I needed a distraction. I had kept most of what happened between me and Spock a secret, but I think she knew I was trying to battle some conflicting feelings. Hence the night out.
"Evieeee." The man whined again, scooting closer to me in the booth. I rolled my eyes and slid out the other side, taking my drink with me. The man, Steve or something, had been nice to talk to at first, but quickly became bothersome the more he drank.
I wiggled between people, thankful I was wearing a romper instead of a dress. In big crowds like this people are always looking for a short skirt.
"My'ya!" I shouted over the large music, finding her grinding between two women who seemed to be enjoying themselves.
"Evelyn! Where's Al?" She asked, squeezing away from the women to dance near me.
"Left the sleaze in his booth. I think I'm going to head home, do you want me to call a cab for you?" I asked, eyeing a man who started dancing close to her.
"No, I've got friends," she said, throwing her thumb over her shoulder at the women she was dancing with, " we're gonna do a night cap after this."
"Just let me know when you make it safe, okay?" I said , putting my drink on a tray that was being carried around by a waiter.
"Hey, baby." The dancing man said, coming up to grind on My'ya.
"Ew, no please. Not my type." She said, shoving him slightly. He grabbed onto her, pushing his body against hers.
"Aw come on now, sweet cheeks, your cute friend can join us too." He replied, winking at me.
"She said no, take a hint." I said, shoving the man away. It was clear that he was drunk by the way he stumbled.
He turned on me with drunk anger, "Fuck you, bitch!" He said, drawing the attention of the nearby dancers. "I'll teach you how you-"
The man didn't finish his sentence as my fist flew into his face. His nose crushed under my punch, blood splattering all over my pale blue romper.
"This is brand new and now I've got blood on it, thanks." I said sarcastically, watching with amusement as he groaned on the floor. My knuckles throbbed, the man's blood caking the surface. He got up and a ran out of the club, a chorus of laughs following him as he cried out profanities.
"Thanks babe." My'ya said beside me, patting my arm.
"Do you want me to stay?"
She shook her head, giving me a sly smile, "We're going to head out. I'll catch you later." She said.
"Let me know you make it okay."
We went our separate ways after a quick hug. I shrugged on a jacket, braving the cold as I decided to walk. I didn't like to take taxi's and I was not about to ask a stranger for a ride. As I walked, I didn't fail to notice the thin layer of snow coating everything in sight, and I silently berated myself for not bringing a heavier coat. The walk home was long, but u eventful and I was glad that the dorm was warm upon my arrival.
I let out a long sigh, flopping down on the couch. I was far too awake to sleep but too tired to do anything. I thought for a moment about doing some work, but decided that nothing was due immediately and that I should enjoy myself. I was surprised by a sharp knock at the door, and hurried to open it.
