The Escape

I fled the camp. I remembered the horrors I saw, down to the last detail. I ran and ran. My arrows running out. I only survived because... because I slept in and my tent collapsed on me. The undead didn't even bother to check the collapsed tent. I waited until the noise was the loudest before running and occasionally shooting back at the undead which are close to killing or turning some people.

But I still ran, despite how much they needed me.

I was a coward. I am a coward.

I am ashamed of myself, but there's nothing I could do but continue running at this point. Blinking back tears, I ran and ran, never ceasing to stop.

Fate has an interesting sense of direction.

Rain stumbled upon the Frostbourne, Abigail the Nether. And I found a tunnel leading to somewhere...... (Can somebody guess where does that tunnel leads? *wink wink*)

I wiped my tears from my face. It was a staircase dug out that leads somewhere. I couldn't tell.

What is still left for me to lose? I thought sullenly, Nothing. Except for my life, which I had so cowardly saved.

Then... Why do I hesitate to venture down the mysterious tunnel? I thought. Guilt crashing down on me all over again. I took a deep breath, pulled out my iron sword which durability is already halfway down, and ventured into the tunnel.

It was long and tiring. I didn't know how long I walked, I only knew I rested more than a dozen times and on vast intervals. By the time I reached the end of it, I was panting and was tired out of my mind. I grabbed an apple, one of the last of my meager storage of food I brought with me and ate. An apple had never ever tasted sweeter.

But my efforts were not wasted.

I was rewarded with vast chambers of stone bricks, some mossy, some cracked, but still stable, for now.

Awed, I explored the chambers and vast caverns. As if led by some sense or instinct, I followed a particular route through the chambers that all looked the same, leading where, I never did know, until I reached it.

A different chamber with a portal at the center. All of the sockets of the blocks lining the portal are filled with strange eyes. An empty cage-like block rested in front of the portal.

I knew what this portal is instantly. From a story my friend from the village told me once.

"The End Portal," I whispered to nobody. Awe and reverence filled me. Then my instinct commanded me to jump in. I shook my head, this is insane!

But like I said, I have nothing left to lose, I thought. Suddenly, my guilt was replaced by anger and determination. I will take vengeance on those bastard undead.

And there is one thing I can do that may be a great help.

I leaped in the portal.

Woo! New book! I said I'm busy and yet here I am! Starting a new story! I have officially lost my mind, oh wait, I already did.

And from my strange writing timetable and daily schedule, simply expect random updates in random books. Plus I have to binge Lord of the Rings as my duty as an addict.

This story's chapters will be of random lengths, courtesy to my schedule.

And if you haven't noticed, the girl in the story is me. (Actually, I left no clue whatsoever. Um...)

So yeah. Random updates, random lengths. Except for my other story, Heiress to the Nether, I'll keep the story length a minimum of 1000, or somewhere close.

Post Author Note:

Hi, this is Iris from the future (Compared to the A/N above). So this story is a reupload from my old account, which, let's say it ran into some difficulties and is deleted. I fixed a bit of grammar before I publish this with my helpful partner Grammarly, and yeah. I will keep my old A/Ns, in case anybody wanted to read it or just want to see what happened back then.

Also, when I transferred this story to Google Docs, I was in a hurry. (I was literally on the train to school when I was backing up all my stories) So instead of entering the chapter names, I entered Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. So some of you might find different chapter names since I'm doing this by memory.
