I woke up with a sudden burst of emotion. Why was I in a ambulance? What is this tube stuck in my arm? who are all these people looking at me?
What happened? But most of all, Where is Cole? I hear sirens and people screaming but I don't know what's happening. A kind lady looks into my eyes as she sits me up. "You are going to be okay don't even worry. We gave you some medicine to make you sleepy. Next thing you know, you will be in a happy environment where everything will be okay." I tried to respond to her, but I lost all control of my body and I fell against the bed. I can't remember how I got into the hospital, or anything after that, but I remember waking up in a white bed with two nurses asking me questions and telling me everything is okay and to not even worry. They rolled me into a room where Blake was waiting for me. He looked like he hadn't slept in days and his face was stained red from crying. A look of relief seemed to wash over his face when he saw me. I immediately started crying because I was so confused and scared and I just needed him to be near me. When we were left alone in my hospital room, Blake explained to me what happened. "When you and Cole were driving home from the beach, there was a drunk driver speeding on the freeway being chased by a cop car. Do you remember that?" I shook my head yes. "The drunk driver hit Coles car and the air bag went off immediately. Cole's immediate reaction was to protect you from the air bag. He put his arm out in front of you. That action decreased your injuries by 75%." I started crying all over again. "The drunk driver died immediately when he hit you, but everyone else survived." I was confused but hoped for the best possible outcome. "Cole's alive?" I could hear Blake breathing slowly, like he had to tell a child that Santa wasn't real. "Yes, well, kind of."

RomanceMy first book so don't judge ************************************** Our love story wasn't like one you could find in a fairytale. But I would say, it's about as close as you could get.
