CHAPTER 8
Danielle's POV
With a sigh, I raised the remote and slowly pressed down on the off button, watching as the screen flickered to black. I had just finished watching Liam and the lad's live interview.
It left me thinking about why his expression had changed so suddenly. When the interviewer, Susie I think, asked about relationships, Liam's expressed had changed to one of despair.
But that was understandable, from what I'd heard, his girlfriend passed away about seven months ago. And with every question Susie asked, his expression turned sadder.
The thing I didn't understand though, was why his expression changed so much when Susie asked about her reaction to Maddy's death. It turned to a look of sheer panic. But why? Was his reaction really that terrible?
At any rate, the poor lad looked miserable when the interview ended.
I needed to call him to make sure he was okay. Just as I grabbed my mobile off the table next to m hospital bed, the nurse came into the room and I hastily put it back.
"How are you feeling Ms. Peazer?" she asked with a tiny smile.
"Better than before," I grinned. It was true, my leg didn't hurt as much and the cast was beginning to feel not as heavy and alien.
"That's good," he nurse replied happily. She consulted the clipboard in her skinny arms.
"At this rate, you'll be out of here by tomorrow. The day after that at latest," she finished.
"I'll need crutches, right? And no dancing for how long again?" I inquired.
"Yes, we'll show you how to use them tonight or tomorrow morning. And about two or so weeks," the nurse informed me. I nodded slowly, processing the information. It took me a while because I was still thinking about Liam.
The nurse stayed in for a little longer, running a few tests. Finally, she left and I snatched my mobile again. I looked through my contacts and dialed Liam's number.
It rang a lot of times and finally went to his voicemail. With a sigh, I hung up and instead called Niall.
"Hello?" his Irish accent twanged through the phone after a couple of rings.
"Hey Niall," I greeted him. "Err... Can I talk to Liam? It's important."
"Sure, just a minute," he replied, and I waited for about half a minute before he said something again. "The door's locked," he finally sighed.
