Danielle's POV
After I heard the beep signaling that Liam had hung up, I let the phone slip out of my hands and onto my bed. Liam had decided to tell all that to me. I pushed down the feathery feeling in my stomach and instead thought deeply about what he had said.
He sounded like he was going through a rough year. Well, rough was an understatement.
I wanted to do something to help him... But what could I do? I wasn't a therapist. And though I understood why he was upset, I didn't completely understand what he was experiencing. I've never experienced the death of someone that close to me.
Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrate from next to the leg that didn't have a cast on it. I glanced at the Caller ID briefly before jabbing the answer button and pushing the phone to my face.
"Hi Mum," I cheerfully spoke into my phone.
"Dani, how are you doing?" my mum asked, though her voice lacked her usual enthusiasm and energy.
"I'm fine. Is anything wrong?"
"When are they going to release you?" Mum avoided answering my question, meaning something was definitely wrong.
"Tomorrow probably. What's wrong, Mum?"
"Oh that's good. Erm... I have to go."
"No, Mum, don't you dare-" I started, but the beep cut me off. What was wrong? What happened?
Louis' POV
I paused just as my knuckles were about to hit the door to Liam's flat. I had given him enough slack. He needed to tell me what he was hiding, now.
I regained my courage and rapped my knuckles on the door impatiently. After two more knocks, the door finally swung open, revealing a stressed looking Liam.
"What do you want, Lou?" he asked me gruffly.
"We need to talk," I looked him dead in the eye, and caught the shadow flicker in his eyes before he shifted his gaze to the floor.
"Let me guess, Niall sent you to remind me of what a horrible person I am," Liam rolled his eyes.
"What?" I asked, genuinely confused. "No, I haven't even talked to Niall since the interview. We still haven't finished our discussion about your scar from the 'pillow fight,'" I put air quotes around the 'pillow fight.'
"What about it?"
"Why did you lie? What did you even get it from?" I shot the two questions at him rapidly. Suddenly, I noticed two new Band-Aids on Liam's right arm. Either Liam had a serious bandage fetish or he kept getting hurt. It was probably the latter. But the question was why? What did he get all those cuts from?
"I-"
Suddenly, a sickening image formed inside of my head, and I couldn't help but blurt out the burning question created by the image.
