The night was silent, only the sound of shouting and clashing of metal could be heard. Soma was safe in Granzoul's arms as he ran for his life.

He had only one thing on his mind, and that is to keep Soma alive. He took a left turn past a big tree and speeded down the trail. He didn't have to look behind him, the continuous sound of men shouting at him was enough proof for him that they're still hot on his tail.

The men chased them with swords and torches through the thick forest without rest. Tailing them every step of the way.

Soma was left in the dark about what was going on and where they're going. But for some reason that didn't bother him at all. He clung to Granzoul's arm as he ran. He wasn't scared.

One man caught up to Granzoul and grabbed him, throwing him on the ground as hard as he could. Granzoul landed on his side, arms still wrapped around young master Soma. The man started laughing deviously, "Well what do you know. We finally found that bastard's son" he said, walking closer and crouching next to Granzoul.

He grabbed Soma out of his arms and held him. "So much trouble for such a small creature" he said, placing his finger on the baby's nose. "It's too bad, really" he said, taking out a dagger.

"No! Please, don't!" Granzoul struggled to break free from the grip of two other men. The man just hummed in response, "Oh, would you like to go first? Yes, I think that's a wonderful idea. That way, the boy can cry for one last time" he said, holding Soma by the collar of his tiny T-shirt— made out of loose rag— and turning him to face Granzoul.

One of the men holding him down took their sword while the other pushed him to his knees and lift his head. Granzoul had tears in his eyes, he was about to fail his master, fail to keep a promise and die a death without honor.

And lastly, his new young master that he barely know for a month, has to witness his murder. The man placed the the dagger under his throat, slowly increasing the pressure.

Soma couldn't do a thing to help him. The only thing he could do was squirm. The man chuckled, "Don't worry little one. You'll be joining him soon".

The blade against Granzoul's throat moved slightly to the side, leaving a trail of blood in its wake. After that, a scream that would give you nightmares escaped Granzoul's lips.

"I'm sorry, master Soma" he screamed.

Something inside Soma snapped. The last thing he could remember before everything went black, was the scream of the man holding him.

When he did awaken, he was in a cave hidden by a waterfall. He slightly turned his head and almost jumped out of his skin when his eyes suddenly focused and found Granzoul lying down, really close to his face.

His head started aching, causing him to groan. What happened? Where are we? He asked, completely disregarding the fact that the author already said where they were. Thanks a lot by the way😒.

He stiffened when he remembered what happened to Granzoul. He shot his head sideways and studied his neck. Luckily it was only a small scratch, the rest was just dry blood. He mentally sighed as drowsiness washed over him.

For some reason he felt a bit drained. He assumed it must be since he fainted. So after staring at the ceiling for a minute, he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

He was once again awoken, but this time by the sound of footsteps. Opening his eyes, a town filled his view. And just so ya know, author-Chan is going to loose it if Soma asks 'where are we' or 'where am I'.

Where are we?

Granzoul seemed to notice the slight stirring in his arms and looked down. "Oh thank the heavens! Master Soma, don't ever do that to me again!!" he squished the baby with a bear hug.

What is he talking about? What did I do? Soma searched the corners of his mind but couldn't find a thing that could explain what he meant, so he just shrugged.

The silence was broken by a high pinch rumble. "Is someone hungry?" Granzoul smirked, deserving an eye roll from Soma.

"Did you just—" Granzoul gasped before screeching like a fan girl. "YOU CAN UNDERSTAND ME!!! Ok master Soma, say Granzoul" he held the baby like in lion king. Soma sighed, what have I gotten myself into?

"Bece" Soma said. Granzoul frowned, "No, it's G-r-a-n-z-o-u-l. Come on, one more try" he urged Soma to try again.

"Ba—Baka" he was now finally able say the word correctly without any mumbling in between. "What does that mean?" Granzoul questioned.

A/n: So the whole Japanese thing is actually comming from anime 😂. But for those who doesn't understand it... Baka mean idiot/fool.

Soma was chuckling deviously in his mind.

Granzoul just groaned from being ignored and continued to walk. They later reached a old wooden door that squeaked when it opened. An old man man peaked out from behind it. He was bold with a long white beard. He was wearing a long black coat with silver linings, working boots and a red scarf.

"What do you — Oh! It's you Granzoul! Please come in, come in" he opened the door wider revealing a poorly decorated living room. Only one word could describe what Soma saw.... Chaos.

There were stacks— no towers of books everywhere you look. Dirty dishes, dirty and ripped clothes... You name it. It was all there.

It looks like an army of ally cats had a rampage in here, Soma thought as Granzoul spoke with the old man.

"What brings you here, old friend?" the man asked, putting his hands together. "I need to ask a favor of you" Granzoul trailed, "You see, ah, how do I say this? They found us. When Mistress left, she left me to care for her son, Soma. And sadly they found him. I don't know how, but they found him. We were being chased but I think we lost—" he was cut off by a book hitting his head.

"Are you mad?! You're now a wanted man and you bring him here?!" the old man scolded.

"All I want is a place to stay for the night! That's all!" Granzoul

Time skip...

"Wait... So you're telling me that you took care of this baby, all on your own?"

Granzoul nodded 'yes' with pride shining like spotlights in his eyes. The old man took another sip of his wine before speaking, "Can't believe he's still alive". Granzoul's face fell anf immediately started shouting at him for 'over exaggerating'.

"That was one time! ONE TIME!!! How long do you plan on blaming me for that? I didn't know it was S - rated curry!" Granzoul whined with animated tears in his eyes.

The old man chuckled maniacally, "What can I say? I like to keep grudges... Fine, you can stay for as long as you need. Just scatter at the first sight of guards, ok?" Granzoul nodded.
