Listened to an aesthetic cute playlist and Prom Queen by Beach Bunny started playing. I love this school AU, I'm diffidently going to continue it.
"I'm just saying, maybe if you weren't so fat people would actually like you," Britan's unkind words stung. It might have been a bit better if Britan wasn't America's father.
"Bretagne!" France yelled from the kitchen. "Don't say that to your son! It's very inappropriate." America's mother was kind, but she was too blindly in love to see how rude her husband was to all their kids.
Britan grumbled before going back to reading the paper. "America, you need to eat," Canada urged. America hadn't touched the french toast Canada made him. He felt bad for not eating the toast, but his father was right. He needed to lose some weight.
America had never been naturally slim like France, Canada, and Kiwi, nor was he muscular like Aussie. He shared Britans body type, short and hefty. As much as he tried to do diets and eat less, he never seemed to lose the layer of fat that hung around him like an unwanted blanket.
"Crud, time for school," Canada said to America. The countries grabbed their bags and slipped on winter boots.
"Bye boys!" France yelled after them.
"Exercise a little for me, America!" Britan joked.
It wasn't that funny of a joke.
Soon, the two brothers had arrived at their Highschool. Canada waved America goodbye and tried to find his friends in a sea of countries. America sadly waved after him, missing the many friends he had before he... started losing a bit of weight. Not enough to make him pretty, but still a little.
"Ame!" America shuddered at North Korea's nickname for him. Said country wrapped his arm around the American's shoulders. "How many burgers have you eaten today?"
"Very funny. You've only made that joke, like, a million times," America glared at the communist. North Korea dug his fingernails into his shoulder, making America wince. North led America towards his locker.
"I have someone I want you to meet. They're new here, so I want them to know what a capitalist pig looks like," North said with mock kindness. They got to his locker and next to it was China and another unfamiliar country. He was really tall and was wearing a furry hat with a red star on it. He looked incredibly bored listening to China. Even though China wore a gas mask, he talked a lot.
"Oh, hey fatass!" China said, noticing America. North Korea finally let go of America as the three countries surrounded him.
The new country looked him up and down. "North, he's really skinny. Are you sure you got the right guy?" he said with a deep voice.
"I brought you here to insult him, not have a jolly ol' gay time!" North yelled.
"To be honest, you're a bit chubbier than him," the country said with a sly smile. North froze, looking confused and angry.
"Come on. We've got better things to do," China scoffed, grabbing North's arm and leading him off.
America turned to the country. "Uh, thanks, but you didn't need to lie about me being skinner than North."
"I wasn't lying. You look like you haven't eaten in five months," the country said bluntly.
"I'm America," America said, trying to brush off the previous comment.
"I know. I'm Russia," the country said.
"Want to be friends?" America asked.
Russia thought for a moment.
"Sure. What's the worst thing that could happen?"
