States walked up to his office, already dreading the amount of paperwork he had to do. He hated being in Washington DC, but it was made bearable because his states decided to visit him. Every July, States and his states would all gather in Washington DC to be a 'family'. He enjoyed talking to his children individually, but they all didn't get along for some reason. Whenever they all gathered it was chaos. States rarely got any free time, since he had to spend it all doing whatever documents the president or Washington DC gave him.

States felt a bit happier once he remembered all the work he did yesterday. He knew it would take him only a few hours to complete the work he had left. His email was pretty much empty, except for a few companies trying to get him to buy shit. States finally got to the door and went inside. He began to walk through the hallway leading to his office. While he was walking through the long hallway, he ran into Washington DC.

"Hey, got any more work for me?" States asked, trying to match his pace to that of Washington DC. "Jesus you're fast."

"Not much, just some trading documents for a few territories," DC said, shifting through the papers she was holding. "Northern Mariana wants better conditions for her workers, you're late on delivering the shipment of food to the Virgin Islands and Guam, and Samoa... he's doing good."

"Sure, just hand me... wait," States turned to look at DC. "I have more kids?"

"None of them are related to you. And you haven't talked to them in ages, they've probably forgotten about you," DC said, still looking through her papers.

"Hey! I give them food," States said, crossing his arms defensively.

"They've forgotten your personality, 'Merica. Every time I've talked to them they never ask about you."

"They're here?!"

"They were here," DC finally glared at States, "and they left yesterday. They normally come to ask me about confusions in our trades and then they leave."

"Dang, dude," States muttered. "I really need to see my kids. Can you get me a flight? Like right now?"

"No. They're all spread out, so you'd need a few plane tickets. Plus, they're busy too. They all function pretty independently or they rely on other countries," DC went back to her papers.

"What shitty ass countries trying to steal my kids away?"

"Your father and your sister," DC answered.

"Huh. Well, at least they know the family."

"Sweet mother mary- look, I can set you up with a video call if you promise not to be weird, ok? I'll no if you are because I'll ask them," DC said, holding her hand out. She held four different documents, the top one saying 'Guam'. "This is their contact information. I'll schedule the meeting. Don't do anything."

Northern Mariana opened her computed and clicked on the zoom link DC sent. The app loaded and three faces popped up.

"Hey!" Mariana said, trying to be cheerful. She was confused about why States wanted to meet with them after ignoring them for ages.

"Ya know why we're here?" Guam asked. His computer was positioned at an angle that mainly showed his beard.

"Nope. How about you, Virgin?" Samoa asked, adjusting his dark green polo a little.

"Don't call me that," Virgin Islands said, fixing her hair using the screen. "Also, no."
