Hello I'm bored and this idea just came to me so oof

Ok, there are a lot of school fanfictions in this community. Like a lot. And they get kind of boring once you read enough. The plot normally goes like this

America is new to the school. Russia is a bad boy. America is the only one who interacts with Russia like a normal human being. America is rich. America falls in love with Russia at school that is not public or private. Everyone in the school is homophobic and either bullies Russia or America to committing suicide. They live and kiss and shit the end.

School AU's aren't bad, but if they look something like what I just wrote up there it is bad.

I read a school AU by @MonTeam and it was good. They included info on the school (which most people don't do), the school uniform, how prestigious the school is, etc. The plot wasn't 'Estonia falls in love with Finland uwu', it was actually a good, creative story.

Here are some tips on how to write a school AU.

1) Give details. Specify if it's private or public. What's the uniform/dress code? How accepting is it of LGBTQ+ people? Who are the teachers? How expensive is it? How smart do you have to be? What does the campus look like? Just think about making a realistic-ish school first.

2) Brainstorm your plot. And don't make it 'America and Russia love each other uwu'. Let's say we're going to a private school for smart countries. Maybe State's dad paid a lot for him to get in, but State's isn't that smart. He gets tutoring from Germany and pairs up with Russia during tutoring. That plot still could involve States having the uwu's for Russia, but it's more readable than your average RusAme highschool.

3) Look at other highschool fanfictions. It doesn't have to be country humans. See cliches. Look at your plot. Remove the cliches and replace them with something else. Also, stray away from RusAme and other ships that don't make sense. Russia is an extremely homophobic country. States hate Russia. Even if it was hetero, it still wouldn't make any sense.

4) Write the plot. Also, if you're like me and can't write anything that's more than a oneshot, don't actually write the plot like it's going to be more than 3 chapters.

Ok here's my shitty ass plot.

The State's mom, Native America, sends him to a boarding school due to the bullying from his other classmates and the fact he is pretty smart. The boarding school is very challenging so he goes to get tutoring. He gets paired with Canada, one of France's sons, and the two become fast friends. After a few months of getting to know each other, Canada and States (who are not related in any way, shape, or form) make out or some shit. Canada is dating Ukraine. Now America has to deal with his new reputation as the 'side chick' while still falling for Canada (even though Canada's being a garbage human being).

States and Canada have a really good relationship IRL, so this ship makes a lot more sense than Russia and States. I kinda see them as related, but in this school AU, they are not related. Ukraine and Canada also have a good IRL relationship. I think the plot is pretty un-cliche-y, and it still focuses around the romance between States and Canada.

K bye.
