Wow. This took a while to write and I don't know how I feel about it. Oh well.

Germany knew who his soulmate was.

While he was walking through a busy street, the amulet around his neck that warmed up whenever your soulmate was near begun to grow hot. He saw Poland holding up the other half of Germany's necklace and anxiously looking around. Germany quickly walked away.

He hated Poland, and he always would. The other country treated him terribly, and if anyone thought half a silver rose attached to a leather cord would change that, they would be wrong.

Italy also knew who his soulmate was.

He felt his necklace warm when he was in the school library. He saw Greece throw her hands in the air and jump up, laughing with joy as she ran around trying to find them. He got out before she could see him.

Italy was gay. Even if he wasn't, Greece was too lazy for him. She took people for granted and tried to steal people's money. He could never be happy with her.

So Italy and Germany found each other.

Italy told Germany about Greece. Germany, who wouldn't have had the courage to bring up the topic, talked about Poland, and the event that happened at least a month before Greece. Italy and Germany looked at each other, the two boys who knew they would never be happy with their 'soulmates', the boys who messed around with intimacy together. The boys who were in love when society wouldn't let them.

They practically fell into each other's arms. The two had heard stories of people being able to fit seamlessly with their soulmate like puzzle pieces. Italy's hips were far too wide for Germany to wrap his legs around. The dip in Germany's back was too deep for Italy to perfectly rest his hand on it. But they made the best of it.

Now, Germany couldn't imagine himself spending the evening in anyone else's arms.

The two regularly hung out, mainly because they didn't share the same halves. Germany gently rested his head on Italy's hips, toying with the glass semicircle that rested on his collar bone when Germany let go.

"Has Greece realized yet?" Germany mumbled. The two were both afraid of being separated, and if Poland or Greece found their soulmate, it would be game over.

"No. Same with Poland?" Germany hummed, which Italy took as a yes. Italy pulled Germany up until his chin was resting on the top of his head. Italy's hands rested at the smaller country's hips. He placed kisses on Germany's forehead as the other sighed gently. Germany smelled of poppies, which was a plus for Italy.

"How would your dad feel about us?" Germany asked, turning over and tracing circular patterns into his shirt.

"He would kill me and then kill you," Italy said, playing with his hair. Germany hummed again. The two stayed like that for a while before Germany spoke.

"What if they figure out?"

"Who is they?"

"Poland, Greece, your dad, anyone. You know how they treat people like us," Germany said, sliding onto the couch and curling up into a ball. Italy sighed and moved over to Germany.

"Let's not think about that right now," Italy said, but Germany still seemed to be bothered. "Both Greece and Poland don't go to our school, and Poland lives pretty far away." Germany leaned into Italy.

"I just don't want to lose you."

"Hey, Italy can you pass me that pen?" Japan asked, holding out her hand while looking through her bag. Italy handed her a pastel-colored pen. "Thanks." South Korea sat next to her, flipping through a magazine. South had half of a sun hanging from a silver chain, so did Japan.
