Beyoncé's POV

My nerves are shot. We had to cut the vacation short. My mom understood and she told me to call as soon as I found out what was wrong. I didn't tell the kids what was going on just that we were leaving. I didn't want to tell Amir yet because Marcus is like his brother. I need to know all the details before I brake it down to him.

 As soon as we got on the plane Shawn got me a drink to calm my nerves. It helped a bit but not much. I tried to get as much information from Michelle as I could but that was only a little. She said they rode out to the Bronx last night after I told them to check on him. They didn't even make it to his apartment before they saw an ambulance and cop cars. They said they got out to be nosy and right there was Marcus being put on a gurney. They asked the cops what happened and their nonchalant asses said it was another shooting like it wasn't a big deal. They followed the ambulance to the hospital but the doctor wouldn't say anything because they wasn't family. I told them to lie their asses off but they still weren't aloud back last time I spoke to them.

We finally arrived back in New York and Michelle came to pick us up. The kids got in the car and I reassured to Shawn that I was okay with a nod. Michelle and I spoke alone for a moment.

"What's it looking like?" I asked.

She shook her head.

"It's not looking good Bey." She said.

I took a deep breath to keep from crying. I had shades on so the kids wouldn't ask questions.

"Kelly's at the hospital?" I asked.

She nodded and I did and we got in the car. Michelle drove to Shawn's apartment and I spoke to Amir for a second.

"You're gonna go with Shawn and I'm gonna pick you up later." I said.

"Why can't I go with you?" Amir asked.

"You don't wanna hang with us?" Shawn asked laughing.

Amir laughed.

"Yeah," he said. "You going to get Marcus?"

I took a deep breath.

"No but I'm going to take care of something and I'll see you later okay." I said hugging him. "Be good for Shawn okay."

"Okay mommy." He said.

"See ya BB." Cori said.

I hugged her and then looked at Shawn.

"Call me okay." He said as he hugged me.

"Okay." I said.

I kissed him and got in the car with Michelle to go to the hospital.

Narrator's POV

The beeping of machines ran through the ICU of Memorial Hospital. Kelly sat in a chair watching over Marcus as his chest heaved up and down with the help of the breathing machine. The doctors said there's brain activity but they won't know a lot until he wakes up. The bullet missed his spin by one centimeter. Usually patients don't fall into a coma but that seems to be what happened to Marcus. The doctors say they lost him for a moment on the operating table and he loss a lot of blood but he was revived quickly.
