Rain drizzled softly down the window. The pitter-patter of the sky's tears drowned out all impurities of the surrounding clutter and clatter of the train filled with busy people and their busy problems. As we built speed, droplets of rain streamed along with the dirty glass, trying to catch up with the dangerous speeds of the train. The world whizzed by at electric speeds, trees and bushes and grass blurred into a vibrant green mush with red-brick houses occasionally popping into view. Melancholy sky's brought sadness upon the ground, however, street lamps still shinned brightly which made the world seem slightly happier. Glass, frozen against my face, the bitterness of winter condensation on one pane of glass that graced my rosy cheeks and pink nose, as I stared like a child out into the wide world in front of me.
It seemed too safe. Inside, warmth flowed over us like a blanket around a baby, snug in their crib. It shot through the air vents and filled the air with the comforting smell of home. It twisted and turned and cascaded into our lungs with a warm breath. Curiosity swept over my little girl, she stared out of the window with pure wonder of the world. Her little rosy cheeks and red nose pressed up against the frosty glass and her bright sea-blue eyes, inquiring the outside. "Daddy, where are we going? When are we going to get there?" she asked still not moving her concentration from the window, her sweet little voice rang out like a soft song.
"We are going somewhere safe my little wolf" I have told her that since we got out of our house. Followers of a dark wizard had found where I was hiding, they destroyed my house when my little pride and joy had just fallen asleep. I shook her awake and through her weary eyes and the clouds of dust rising from down the hall she saw that same look on my face from the time before, they had found us more than once, she grabbed her pre-packed case and we apparated out of the rubble. Now, we are on the move. The professor that had to plead my case when I got expelled from Hogwarts had provided us with a safe haven, that has been protected from all dark magic with various spells. I write a note, on the back of my napkin, to remind me to send him an owl of thanks. He says this will be somewhere for me to settle down to write my book and for Willow to grow up and be happy. That is all I want, for my little girl to be happy.
Suddenly, the sky turned an obsidian black, like a negligent void that swallowed all light. The wind whipped and lashed out at the trees which snapped under the harsh force of the confused sky. Crying harder out of unknowing, the outside floor turned to flood, and the windows rapidly rattled back and forth from the sheer force. Our train was just cut short of our stop in a small village in Reading, just outside of London. Everything was quiet, the only thing I could hear was the heavy breathing of willow's panicked lungs, I picked her up and held her close to my chest and covered her head with my hand. "Finestra" A low voice whispered. Without warning the windows fragmentized into tiny shards near invisible to the eye spraying everyone with glass and the ever-growing rainstorm that was no longer just outside. A dark spirit infiltrated through the now non-existent windows.
They weren't just evil; you could feel their presence in you even if they were nowhere near. Screams from the distant ends of the train indicated that they were after her again. Well, did they not get the message? I will not let him have her and corrupt her as he does with everything he touches. Without a second thought, I apparated me and Willow out of the train and onto the platform. "Daddy were they the bad men again?" willow whispered into the dark. "Yes, sweetie. Yes, they were. We've got to keep moving ok. Can you keep up with daddy?" I whispered back. "Of course, I can! You know I'm super-fast!" she giggled. "Good," I smiled back. "can you get in the case so it will be easier?" "Yep! I'll look after our creatures!" with that final statement Willow hopped into the case, taking her own with her.
