The Awakening of Otari

Chapter 7

          It was pitch black outside when I decided it was time to go back to Mrs. Anne's house, I slowly climbed out of the tree and sighed as the soft cold grass touched my bare feet, I walked through the park for a while then headed towards the entrance of the park, I was almost out of the park when I heard a deep and evil chuckle along with a few other footsteps crunching through the frozen grass, I shot my head up and quickly gazed around and stared blankly but with a little spark of fear in my eyes at the few large muscular men as they walked towards me "This kid will make a nice decoration for this town's walls, he'll be a perfect piece to warn them that wars coming" growled the man in front of the group as he pulled out a long-bladed sword and walked towards me, I took a few steps back and yelped in fear as the man who was talking dashed towards me and thrust his sword forward. Out of pure instinct I somehow knew to turn on my foot so that the blade of the sword went right past me and I stood to the side, I quickly grabbed the man's wrist and pulled with all my might, so that he would fall to the ground, after the man hit the floor I turned and ran out of the park and down the street beginning to limp as my foot throbbed in pain, I yelped as something grabbed the base of my neck and shoved me onto the ground. The cobblestoned ground scrapped against my skin and tore it open leaving big and small gashes across my body, my cloak covered my face but was torn away as the man who caught me held a knife to my throat and slowly started sliding it across "Max...want do I do!?" I screamed in my head, calling for help was a mistake because Max stayed silent. With no other choice and my fear and anger boiling deep inside me, I screamed, I screamed in rage and bright orange and red flames burst from me surrounded me, the man yelled in pain and got off me, I scrambled up but only fell down as something stabbed me, I growled and snapped my head around and kicked the man away then tore the weird curvy shaped knife out of my shoulder blade and held it, as I stood in a ready stance "L-LEAVE! YOU SCUM!" I yelled as the men growled at me then all at once attacked, I was greatly outnumbered and probably would be overpowered by them, but yet I still fought with all my might, I shot small fireballs at a few of them while I dodged and kicked the other few. I was panting heavily but never staggered on my feet unlike my opponents, which was a huge surprise to me since I was injured "who the hell is this kid!?" Growled the men in frustration as they could only land a few blows on me at a time, just as the one man I had tossed to the ground earlier ran towards me to attack but a loud booming voice rang out through the air and everyone froze "CAPTURE HIM ALIVE!" Yelled another voice that spoke with menace. My body began trembling as that voice rang through my ears, my body was completely immobilized with fear, why did that voice sound familiar "Ollie, That man was the one who hurt you, he's the one that took you from your family, he's the one who killed you, Otari you need to retreat and go to your mother, she can protect you, RUN NOW!" yelled Max as my body unfroze just in time to turn sideways and dodge a blade I grabbed my hood and jumped into the air just like I had done with the guards and my attackers all collided into each other, I kicked off a guys back and rolled on the ground and got onto my feet and ran as fast as I could down the street, I heard menacing howls and growls from more of the people like my attackers as they dashed out of the shadows and chased me, I gasped for breath as I quickly dashed down a dead end alleyway and jumped off a side of the wall and did the same to the other wall, I dived over the wall and hit the ground as my shoulder cracked whenI landed on it when I rolledduring my impact with the floor, I held in my cries of pain as I knew I had to run, I cut in-between backyards and more alleyways until Mrs. Anne's home came into sight, I quickly opened the door and slammed it shut while locking it, I knelt in front of the door and place my hand on the ground and said a few words as a fire red symbol appeared and I stood up on shaky feet and heard a scream, I glanced up at Mra. Anne as she dashed forward, I gave her a weak smile before passing out and falling into her arms as she caught me "OTARI, WAKE UP! WAKE UP!!" yelled Mrs. Anne as everything went dark. It felt like years that I was in this darkness's, I couldn't move and I could hear nothing besides my own screams for help, no light, no sound, nobody... just like it was those so many years ago. My tears never seemed to end as I was lonely, afraid, terrified, all my emotions mixed as I trembled uncontrollably, I felt like I couldn't breathe, like I was suffocating, then I screamed as pain coursed through my body, images flashed so quick through my mind that I couldn't understand at first but at the same time I understood, Old memories that filled in all the blank spaces in my head, filling in the missing parts of the timeline that I struggled to even remember or picture what happened.
