For my first kiss, I thought I did pretty well. Though, the only thing that kept popping up in my mind is why a girl from Apenture, that was ridiculously beautiful and rich, fall for me, a scrawny kid from Ponama. I decided not to push my luck, and I sat there, holding her as she laid against me. This is the happiest I’ve been in all of my life.

She smiled and said, “We should probably head back soon, it’s starting to get dark…”

I smiled back, “Yeah, I guess.”

We walked back up to building P (the name I gave it, stands for building of the proving) and we climbed up the steps to go inside, when Nikol stopped and looked me in the eyes.

    “Thank you, Rite.”

“You’re welcome, but may I ask, why’re you thanking me?”

“For showing me such a good time, silly.”

“Oh! My bad!” I smiled, extremely awkwardly.

I opened the door to our room and let her in first. I am trying my best to be a gentleman for her, and I really hope I’m succeeding. She did a twirl before collapsing on the bed, smiling at me. I jumped in bed next to her, wrapping my arms around her and pulling her against me, laughing, and I gently kissed her neck.

We fell asleep cuddling. She was pressed against my body, facing the same direction as me, and I had my arms wrapped around her. When she woke up, she moved around a little bit, which woke me. Whenever I got a grip on my surroundings, and that I had this beautiful girl within my embrace, I couldn’t help but smile.

We got dressed, and walked outside for wakeup checks. Surely they won’t let us have another free day, right? I thought to myself.

I was correct, in fact. When the instructor came by with his long curly mustache, he told us our briefing for the day. Today was awfully light, which kind of unnerved me. A random off day, then a really light day? This got awfully easy…

It obviously unnerved Nikol as well, because I saw her shift after he gave us the briefing. I convinced myself to talk to her about this later. This just didn’t seem right.

We made off though, and our briefing for the day is to aid others in their briefing. Out of all of the kids, why were we chosen to aid the staff? It just seemed a bit off, like getting a piece of food stuck between your teeth and you just can’t get it out. It just bothered me.

We followed the mustache guy to a big room with about six other people already sitting down as if waiting for us. In fact, they were waiting for us.

“Rite, Nikol, please, take a seat.”

We took a seat next to each other, and Nikol grabbed my hand as we sat, and I held hers back as for comfort.

“We brought you here because of your outstanding grades on each of the tests we have given to you. We were wondering if maybe you could spread some insight to the rest of the kids here, to help them and guide them through the proving. We know, it is no simple task to, and these are your competitors, but please.”

I looked at Nikol quizzically. I was confused as to why they were begging us, and based on the look on Nikol’s face, she was as well.

“I’m fine with aiding the other kids,” she looks at me, “what about you, Rite?”

“I’m okay with it as well, I don’t see an issue in it, not gonna lie,” I stated. I was just still left wondering why they had to ask us for permission. Manners, maybe? I doubt it, but okay, I guess.

The lady smiled, “Thank you both, you are doing a wonderful service to these kids and to your capital, your contributions will not go unthanked.”

“Thank you, ma’am,” Nikol and I both said, not knowing what else to say. This was just extremely unexpected, especially since they chose us, of all people. I, personally, am nothing special. I’m not even a good teacher, and I feel like I’m going to fail them and our capital.

I was beginning to stress as they let us out, to head back to our rooms with the new uniforms they handed us. Nikol must’ve read into it, because once we exited the room, she pulled me into a hug and kissed me, saying, “It’s okay, just breathe, you’ll do amazingly, I promise.”

I smiled, feeling better already. “Thank you, Nikol, again,” I chuckled to myself, and her bright smile lit up her face again. I really did love this girl.

She grabbed my hand and we walked down the hallway to our room, and she was cuddled up against my arm. I had her uniform, as well as my own, so she didn’t have to carry anything. I was doing my best to be sweet, and I honestly had no idea if it was working. It kind of concerned me.

We got to our room, and she immediately got undressed and dressed, but as did I. Our new uniforms represented those of the staff that guided us through our proving. As I put my uniform on, I looked at Nikol and asked, “Wait, does this make us part of the capital now?” We both busted out laughing.
