I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals

5...

I finally just had to cut one more wire.

4...

I hovered over the wire, hesitating.

3...

A new wave of stress came over me.

2...

Was it the right one?

"Fuck it."

1...

I cut the wire.

I heard a sigh of relief, realizing it was my own. I ran to the window.

"Please Peter." I heard how desperate I sounded.

I walked back to the table and waited. Somewhere I must've fallen asleep.

"(y/n)! We made it!" A very excited voice came from behind me. I didn't feel like waking up. "Oh, sorry."

His phone rang.

"Mr Stark! Hi," He said nervously.

I noticed that I also heard 'Mr Stark' speak. "Hey, kid, great job with the bombs."

"Uh, thanks." He chuckled. "But I couldn't have done it without (y/n)."

"(y/n)?"

"She's a girl who's um, who's staying at the apartment." I could tell that he looked up to the man. "She even knew how many bombs there were!"

"Can I meet her?"

I stiffened, repeating his words in my head. Please say no, I quietly begged.

"Yeah!" He excitedly answered. "But I don't think she should, like, walk that much."

"How come?"

"Well, her foot isn't exactly 100% at the moment."

I was already planning my escape at that.

"Oh, well?" The man said expectantly, probably wanting to know when.

"Tomorrow?"

"Is the apartment habitable?"

"What? I- no?" There are ceiling parts everywhere."

"Ceiling parts." Mr Stark laughed under his breath. "Then I'll send Happy to go get you, and you can live at the compound for as long as you'd like."

"Really!"

"Did I stutter?"

I decided to look now. Peter's face was practically glowing. I couldn't look away.

"Oh, sorry, did I wake you?"

I shook my head.

"Well, the apartment is a mess. But less of a mess than it would've been if you didn't do this." His eyes pierced mine. "How?"

"I uh..." I didn't have time to finish before May came.

"Holy crap guys, what were you thinking!?"
