Chapter 14 - Beaten by a Pink Kitten

Lucy's POV

The day after the thieves were arrested by the Rune Knights, we decided to try out a new restaurant to celebrate for a job well done. This was the first job none of us destroyed anything and that was something we needed to celebrate. "Lucy, are you gonna eat the rest of that?" Natsu asked as he stared at my half-eaten food. He had finished his large plate of tuna slices and he was still hungry. I giggled, "go ahead" I replied as I pushed my plate with my snout over to him. His eyes sparkled happily as he said "thanks Lucy!" and dug into the food.

"Erza, Gray, Wendy?" we heard a familiar voice by our table. We looked up to see Sting and Rogue, "hi Sting, hi Rogue" Wendy greeted. I noticed Lector and Frosch were with them and were talking to Happy and Carla. "Aren't there two people missing in your group? Where are Natsu and Lucy?" Sting said and then spotted me. "Wait a second, I recognise this kitten" he said as he leaned in and inspected me. "I'm guessing you have turned into a kitten again Lucy" Rogue said and I meowed in response.

"Oh yeah! So, if that's Lucy then who's the pink kitten?" Sting said as he pointed to Natsu. I could see the imaginary clogs turning in his head and then his eyes widened. "Natsu?!" he exclaimed and jumped back in shock. "Yep, that's Flame Brain" Gray confirmed. "You're so cute Natsu" Sting snickered as he leaned his finger closer to Natsu for a pat. Natsu glared at him and bit his finger. It took Sting a second to register the pain before he ran around crying in pain. He tried to shake Natsu off his finger but Natsu had a strong grip. Rogue laughed at his partner who was losing against a little pink kitten.

"Natsu, that's enough" I said because we were causing a commotion and everyone in the restaurant were watching us. At the right time, Natsu let go of Sting's finger and landed on the table. "Sorry Lucy but he was making fun of me" he pouted and rubbed his body against mine. "It's still not nice to bite people, now say sorry" I said, "but they can't understand us" he replied. "I'm sure he will depending on the tone you use, now say sorry" I replied. Natsu sighed as he sat next to me and meowed 'sorry' with his head down.

"I'm not accepting your apology. Look, my finger is bleeding!" Sting said as he showed his bleeding finger to Natsu. I heard Natsu snicker and I whacked him on the head with my paw. "Ow" he exclaimed and looked at me with a pout. "I can heal your finger Sting" Wendy offered and Sting agreed.

After Wendy healed his finger, Sting turned towards Rogue. "Hey Rogue lets go..." he said but noticed Rogue, Lector and Frosch were gone. We noticed a note on the table that wasn't there before and Sting picked it up. "I went ahead to the guild. I can't wait to tell the others that you were beaten by a pink kitten. Don't look for me. Rogue" Sting read out loud. "ROGUE!" he shouted and bolted out of the restaurant.

Natsu rolled onto his back and laughed. Everyone at our table laughed at Sting's exit including me. After about a minute of laughing, we all calmed down and finished our meals before leaving the restaurant. We headed back to our hotel to collect our stuff and then headed for the train station.

Natsu groaned as we were halfway through our train ride back to Magnolia. "Luuuuuuucy~. Please make the world stop spinning" he weakly complained. He was on his back with his legs hanging in the air. "Ash-for-Brains looks like a dead bug. Does anyone have a flyswatter?" Gray snickered on the seat across from us. Natsu hissed at him but quickly became sick when the train hit a bump. Gray smirked at Natsu inability to fight back.

When we arrived in Magnolia, it was late so we headed towards my apartment. Natsu and I were laying on Happy head as he flew beside our group. As we were walking down the quiet street, I remembered walking down this street as a cute human woman and wondered if I would ever turn human again. I miss my human life. I can't talk to Levy or Mira, I can't summon my spirits except for Loke in lion cub form and I can't help my friends fight on jobs. The only positive thing I could see about this situation was that I didn't have to worry about my rent as a kitten.

"Are you ok Lucy?" I heard Natsu ask beside me. "Yeah..." I replied with a fake smile. I didn't want to make him worried. "I know you're lying. Tell me what's wrong?" he asked with a concerned look on his face. I sighed, "I wondered if we will ever become human again" I told him and laid my head down on Happy's head. "Of course we will, I trust our friends will figure out a way to turn us back. I'm 100% sure" he replied with a smile. "Yeah, thanks Natsu" I replied and gave him a genuine smile this time. He always seems to find a way to cheer me up, either with words or actions.

When we arrived at my apartment, Happy put me and Natsu down on the floor. Our friends left to the kitchen to prepare some dinner while Natsu and I were left in the living room. We were exchanging stories of what happened after we separated down the hallways in the thieves' hideout when everyone else came back into the room with dinner. After seeing the half-frozen and half-burnt meal, I wondered what they did to my kitchen. Natsu patted his tummy after eating everything on his plate. "How can you eat that?" I asked, "I've burnt food on jobs and I had to eat it" he replied. I didn't say anything else about it.

Natsu then ran to our basket bed and laid down on it. "Hurry up Lucy! You know I can't sleep without you" he called out and I felt a blush heat up my cheek. Even though we've been dating for a while, he still manages to surprise me and make me blush. I joined him on the bed and laid beside him. I let out a yawn and thought it was time to go to sleep. As I was falling asleep, I felt Natsu gently licking my ear repeatedly which felt relaxed me into a peaceful sleep.
