I wasn't sure how long Lucy and I have been in Happy's bag for when we noticed they stopped. I peeked out of the bag and saw the dark guild on the right. I couldn't see our guild mates behind Happy so I popped my head out of the bag for a better view. They were in a circle discussing how to attack without the dark guild hurting the hostages. "Lets go Lucy" I whispered and jumped out of the bag before she could argue. "Natsu!" she whispered with concern as she followed me.
We quickly hid on the other side of the bush they were hiding behind before they spotted us. I don't want to imagine what Erza would do to us for going against her orders. "Huh?" Happy said in confusion, "what's wrong Tomcat?" Carla asked. "My bag feels lighter all of a sudden but my special fish I'm saving for later is still in here" he replied, "must be your imagination" she said.
"Natsu, what are we doing?!" Lucy whispered, "I'm not staying on the side lines" I replied as I headed towards the front doors of the dark guild. "No! Don't go that way, if we want to help we should go in through the back" Lucy said. "Great idea Lucy!" I replied, 'my girlfriend is so smart. Ha beat that Gray!' I thought with a grin on my face. "Stop grinning and lets go before the others catch us" Lucy said snapping me out of my thoughts. "Aye!" I replied and followed her towards the back of the dark guild.
Before we turned the corner of the building, we heard some voices on the other side. "Stay back Lucy" I said as I took a peek around the corner. Three dark wizards were hanging out outside the slightly open back door. I guessed they were guarding that entrance for any intruders but they wouldn't expect any kitten intruders.
"What's going on?" Lucy asked as she pushed her head between me and the wall to have a look. "We can sneak in while the guards aren't looking. Follow me" I said. I made sure the guards weren't watching before stalking towards the open door. Taking a quick glance behind me, I saw Lucy closely following. We were able to get past the guards and into the dark guild but we weren't out of the woods yet.
We snuck around the dark guild, hiding behind every possible object so we wouldn't be spotted while we searched for the hostages. Eventually we found a dark room slightly opened and decided to check it out to see if the hostages were in there. The whole room was dark except for the minimal light that came through one small window. Looking into the darkness we saw all the women and girls that were the hostages. They were all tied up and gagged, with only rags for clothes. I noticed most of them had some bruises across their skin which I could tell was from being beaten. I was angry that this dark guild would treat women and little girls this badly.
"Come on, lets untie them" Lucy said and ran towards one of the women with long brown hair. The woman looked down at her confused probably wondering why a kitten was here. Lucy ran behind the woman and started biting the rope binding her. Thanks to Lucy's sharp teeth, she quickly bit off the restrains. The woman took the gag out of her mouth and turned to Lucy. "Thank you" she whispered as she pets Lucy's head.
Together, Lucy and I bit off the rope binding everyone. Some of the women, who we freed, helped untie the other tied up women to make the job quicker. Once every one of the hostages were freed, we heard a loud crash. "Looks like the others are starting their attack" I said to Lucy. I carefully peeked out the door and saw all the dark wizards scrambling towards the attack. Once I saw no more dark wizards, I turned to the group of women. "Follow us!" I meowed to them and ran out the door with Lucy behind me.
The women seemed to understand and followed behind us. Luckily the attack distracted all the dark wizards so we were able to make it out with the hostages safely. When we were at the back door, I checked to see if the guards were outside and luckily for us, they weren't. Once the women were outside they all scrambled towards the town. The brown haired woman Lucy untied first stayed behind for a few seconds with a brown haired little girl beside her. I could tell they were mother and daughter. "Thank you for saving us kittens" she said as she petted us both on the head. "Thank you kitties" the little girl waved as her mum scoped her up in her arms and ran towards town.
"I'm not letting you get away" we heard a deep voice say behind us. We saw a huge man with a scar across his cheek. His dark brown hair was slicked back and he wore a huge black coat with black fur on the edges. He held his hand up to attack the mother and daughter with his magic but Lucy quickly ran at him and bit his ankle. "Argh!" the man exclaimed and his magic missed the mother and daughter. Lucy let go of his ankle and then the man kicked her past me. She bounced across the ground as she landed and I saw she wasn't moving.
"Lucy!" I exclaimed as I ran as fast as I could to her. She opened her eyes weakly, "did he...hit them?" she asked weakly. "No, he missed thanks to you" I replied with worry in my eyes as I looked at her. "That's good" she mumbled as she closed her eyes. "Lucy?!" I panicked but I saw she was still breathing which was a relief. I gave her a lick on the cheek and turned to face the man who hurt her. "Damn rat should have stayed out of it" he muttered as he stared at Lucy. I stood in front of her, blocking his view of her and glared at him. "I'm guessing you want to join your friend" he said and pointed his hand at me for another magic attack.
I hissed at him and he shot his magic. "Ice make SHEILD!" I heard someone chant and an ice shield appeared in front of me, protecting me and Lucy. I looked to my left and saw Gray with the rest of our friends. "Don't mess with our friends" Gray said and I rolled my eyes. 'He just wants to look cool' I thought. Erza and Gray fought the man while Wendy, Happy and Carla came over to us.
I turned around to check on Lucy and stood beside her. She was still breathing but it looked like every breath was painful. "I only have a little bit of my healing magic left at the moment but it should ease her pain a bit" Wendy said as she used her magic on Lucy. I watched Lucy's face intently and saw her face loosening up like she wasn't in much pain. I gave her a lick on the cheek as a get-well kiss.
Erza and Gray quickly wrapped up their fight and came over to us. "How's Lucy?" Erza asked, "she'll be fine for now. I will be able to heal her fully when I gather some of my magic back" Wendy said as her hands stopped glowing. "Well now that the guild master is defeated-" Erza said, 'what?! Guild master?!' I thought as I looked at the man who kicked Lucy earlier. "We can head back to town now. The Rune Knight should be here soon to take the dark wizards away" she continued. "Oh and Natsu, I know this was your idea to go against my orders from the start so..." she added as she leaned her hand towards me. I shivered, worried about what she was going to do. I closed my eyes in fear and then felt her flick my forehead HARD. "Ow ow ow ow ow!" I exclaimed as I rolled onto my back, holding both my paws on my sore head. "Now that that's settled, lets go" she said and Wendy carried Lucy and I back to the hotel with the group.
