Three years later...ALSO! Major Zavian feels this chapter 😌
~Bex's POV~"Fuck," Zav moans, his hand gripping my neck. I tilt my head back, my eyes closing. My nails dig into his back, leaving marks for later. Knocking on the bedroom door makes him come to a dead stop, hand slowly leaving my throat. Looking at the door, I've never been so relieved to see a locked door. She wouldn't remember anything, but my pride will.
He pulls out and rolls out of bed, grabbing his sweats from the floor. He puts them on as he walks to the door. As soon as it's open, Corvina steps in and makes her way over. Keeping the sheet pressed to myself, I manage to lift her up and let in the middle of Zav and mines sides.
Her black curls fall in front of her face as she looks down at the doll in her hand. I've tried talking Zav into cutting it for her benefit, but he keeps saying I'm not "touching a hair in his child's head." It's always getting in her hair and there's nothing I can do with it. I'm starting to get a feel of what my mom went through before I was able to do my own hair.
"Morning," I say, moving her hair. She gives me a smile but doesn't look up. It's a normal problem we have with her that we're working to fix. I don't think she's ever been able to look anyone in the eye for longer than two seconds. Her talking is good, slow, but clear. She gets her point across and that's what matters to me and she understands us.
"Someone has the worst timing in the world. I was just about to finish my ice cream," he says, laying back down. A giggle escapes my smiling lips. As if by instinct she lays down and rests her head on his chest. The sight brings a smile to my face. "I love you, my beautiful girl."
"Love you too," she replies, her voice small. She lets her doll rest at her side, closing her eyes. She didn't sleep well last night, so it doesn't surprise me that she's tired this morning. His large hand looks ginormous on her small back, rubbing up and down until her breathing evens.
The love I have for the two people in this room is unmeasurable. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for either of them. It's crazy how I didn't know how much he would affect my life when I met him; that he would change my life completely. Nothing in this world makes me happier than the two of them.
"I have to help my dad after work," I tell Zav, finally getting up. When the sheet falls from my body, what I said is lost from his brain. Three years and he still looks at me the same way he did the first time, I didn't think that was actually possible. I see him differently but in a good way.
"Help with?"
"Dinner. It's my moms birthday and he wants to cook since he wasn't here last year for it," I tell him. He nods, pulling her closer and kissing her cheek. "Will you be okay with her by yourself? I should be home around seven and you won't have to worry about dinner." Why do I sound like I'm trying to convince him to watch her? She's his kid too.
"I know, Bex. When you come home, she'll be in one piece. I told you that yesterday and the day before," he says. I sigh, grabbing out a pair of pink scrubs. "Ugh, I love when you dress all doctored up."
"Not a doctor yet, and not sexy at all," I tell him, getting underwear and a bra out. He peels himself away from her, getting out of bed again. Grabbing the stuff from my hands he presses himself against me. "I have to hurry. I wasted enough time with our attempted first try."
"Get your ass in the bathroom before I drag you there by your hair."
"Yes, sir."

~Atticus's POV~"There's my favorite girl," I say, bending down to Vina's height. She reaches her hands up to me. I put my phone in my pocket and pick her up. "Where's your mommy and daddy?" She doesn't say anything.
I haven't seen either of them in a few weeks. Liv and I came over for dinner and things between Bex and me got awkward in the kitchen I'm not sure who is avoid who, but I know I've been keeping my distance. Now married, I know that my feelings for Bex are out the window, have been for three years.
Actually, I'm lying. I'm a complete and utter mess when it comes to the women. She still has the same hold on me she did in the beginning. She could say "ow" and I'd still come running to her aid. The first year of being married to Liv was great, we were happy, I thought I was completely over Bex. Then we started hanging around more often because of Marissa.
Trust me, I fucking hate myself of how I feel and it's extremely immature of me. She's happy, finally actually happy for once in her life, and I'm still here pathetic as ever. I would never act on my feelings for her, that would hurt too many people and hurt a family.
"What are you doing here?" She asks when I push their bedroom door open. Her arms drop her sides from putting her hair up in a ponytail that hangs at the middle back of her head. The scrubs she wears hang from her body modestly, which doesn't come easily with her body type.
"Zav texted and said he wanted to talk," I tell her. Feeling my arms start to burn, I set her down and she stays close to my side.
"Is he scared to watch her on his own?" She whispers, leaning closer to me. Please don't do that.
"Yeah."
"I knew it."
