I sat there waiting for the doctor to tell me I'm free to go, I was becoming impatient and anxious, all I could think about was Jason and how he was right now. The detective that came in yesterday walked in sending a shot of relief through my body. "How are you feeling?" He asked tilting his head to the side.

"Anxious." I whispered, avoiding those pretty eyes. The last time I gave into pretty eyes like those, it didn't really end well for me.

"Don't worry, we'll find him and your son." He said, reassuring me.

"What's your name again?" I asked.

"Cole, Cole Reed. It's nice to meet you, Scarlett." He said, holding out his hand again like yesterday, I looked at it and slowly brought my hand to hold his, I yanked it away after a few seconds and felt my palms begin to sweat.

"Nice to meet you again, Detective Reed." Heat rose in my cheeks, it suddenly got really hot in the room.

"You can call me Cole if you'd like it's shorter and it sounds better than "Detective Reed." He said putting his hands up in quotations. My mouth twitched upwards and almost came at an actual smile until the doctor came in.

"Hi, looks like everything is looking good, you can go ahead and leave when you're ready." He said with a big smile.

"Thanks." Cole said before I could, the doctor walked out and left me alone with Cole again. "I'll wait outside the door while you get dressed." I could have sworn he blushed but maybe I imagined it. After I got dressed, I walked out of the room and saw Cole on my right drinking coffee. "You ready?" He asked, I narrowed my eyes and furrowed my eyebrows.

"Ready for what?" He took a sip of his coffee and peeled himself off the wall he was leaning on.

"I'm going to take you home." My eyebrows shot up to my hairline.

"Okay."

The car ride was silent but thank goodness it was comfortable silence instead of awkward. We made it to the house, and I took a long, deep breath. "You, okay?" Cole asked, parking and shutting the car off, I nodded in response. We walked into the house and my heart nearly stopped due to Dominik sitting on the couch with Jason in a crib next to him.

"Dominik?!" It was all I could say, I was flabbergasted.

"Baby! I'm sorry, I shouldn't have taken the baby away, but you always find a way to make me angry with you, and I didn't want to hurt you, so instead, I left." He said, walking up to me and giving me a tight hug. I didn't hug him back instead I looked at Cole who was trailing his hand down where his gun was.

"Dominik, this time it wasn't my fault. I didn't do anything." I said, pulling away from his arms. He can't do anything to me while Cole is right there watching, he won't.

"That's the problem. You didn't do anything to help me get out, and that hurt me. You caused all of this. You made me think I was going to lose you and our son." Cole's jaw clenched making me swallow hard.

"You did, and for your information, I left you there in jail for being so stupid! I didn't do anything!" I said through my teeth.

"Who's this?" Dominik asked, pointing at Cole and changing the subject.

"I'm Detective Reed, I was going to help your girlfriend find you and her son but now it looks like I only have to worry about the other issue." Cole said, folding his arms. I didn't know Cole, but he looked like he wanted to rip Dominik up into pieces.

"I'm not his girlfriend anymore." I said, backing away from Dominik and getting closer to Cole.

"You're right you're not. You're my fucking fiancé." Dominik said, walking up to me and pulling me into his arms. I broke free and walked behind Cole without thinking about it first.

"I'm going to have to take you in." Cole said, bringing out his handcuffs. Dominik stood there and laughed hysterically.

"I don't think so." Dominik said, as I blinked Dominik connected his fist with Cole's face, making Cole retaliate and tackle him down to the floor. Dominik didn't see it coming, he spit the blood out of his mouth and tried to get out of Cole's grip but didn't succeed.

"Dominik Levy, you're under arrest for abducting a child, possession of drugs, assaulting a woman..." My mind wondered off to what felt like a different universe. All the things he's done, and I didn't turn him in sooner. I was pulled back in when I saw Dominik roll over and punch Cole again, they got into a fist fight until Dominik pushed me into a table and ran out the door. Cole ran out the door behind him, I was going towards Jason until I heard gunshots causing him to cry. I looked out the window and saw nothing outside, no bullets or smoke, not even a sign of Cole or Dominik.

As Cole lied down on the couch, I cleaned up the blood from his face and then put a cold rag over his forehead. He came back after his failure to get Dominik back, turns out the gunshots were warning shots and thankfully he didn't get hurt.

"Thank you. You didn't have to do this." He said, wincing.

"You're welcome." I said shyly, I don't know why but we sat there in silence for a moment while he was almost looking right through me. He really did have beautiful eyes; it was like a tropical island under the ocean. His eyes trailed down to my lips then trailed back up to my eyes.

"I should probably go and let you rest." He said, getting up and putting on his coat.

"Right." I whispered.

"I'll come visit when I can if you'd like, and here's my number if you need me." He said, handing me his card.

"I would love that and thank you for everything." I said, he smiled and kissed my cheek, then walked out the door. I smiled to myself and then checked on Jason. I took him and myself upstairs, he was surprisingly fast asleep like nothing happened, I also decided to go to sleep, I hadn't realized how exhausted I was until I hit my pillow.

Dominik's POV...

I broke into my own house and turned on the light to my son's room. My son didn't wake up thankfully, I put some chloroform in some tissues and put it over my son so he wouldn't wake up at all to what I was doing. It was a small amount of chloroform, so it wouldn't hurt him. I put a piece of duct tape over his mouth and videotaped him, then put a small pocketknife over his neck. I sent a death threat to Scarlett about our son so she would return to me.
I ripped off the duck tape over the baby and left. She isn't ever going to leave me now.

Scarlett's POV...

I woke up and checked my phone to see I have a message from Dominik, I immediately sat up and watched the horrific video he sent of threatening our son's life if I refuse to come back to him. I called Cole as fast as I could and explained the situation, he rushed into the house minutes later. "Relax. I won't let anything happen to you or your son." He said, rubbing my upper back in circles with his thumb.

"I called Dominik." I said.

"What? Why?" He asked.

"He said he'll hurt the baby, his own son, if I don't get back with him." I said, with tears running down my face.

"You don't love him anymore?" It was more a statement than a question because of course I fell out of love with him, he ruined it, he ruined us.

"No-" Dominik cut me off by aggressively pushing the door open.

"You wanted me, and I'm here." Dominik said, barging in. Cole and I both stood up, but Cole grabbed my arm and gently put me behind him.

"You told him to come here?" Cole asked, looking behind him to see if I had lost my mind.

"I-" once again, I was cut off when Dominik pulled out a gun and put it to Cole's head.
