Chapter 29

I woke up next to Cole making me smile like crazy. We had a wild night last night. I could get very used to this. I watched Cole until my phone began to ring.
"Hello?" I asked, turning away from Cole so he wouldn't wake up.
"Hello baby girl. Miss me?" My heart immediately felt like it was gonna pop
out of my chest any moment now.
"Dominik...how? You're in jail. How did you call me?" I asked.
"You mean I'm supposed to be in jail." He said chuckling. "Sweetheart I miss you. Do you miss me?" He asked.
"No." I said. I felt myself begin to shake in fear. I don't know why I was even scared if Cole was right here with me. I felt the air go thin and my head began to spin. I dropped the phone and began to panic. I didn't know how to talk or react all I felt was fear.
"Scarlett?" Cole asked waking up. I think I woke him up by dropping the phone. "Scarlett?!" He asked sitting up and turning me to him by pulling my shoulder with his hand.
"Hey what's wrong?" He asked.
"D-D-he's, he's back.. he's coming back for me." I said basically not making sense.
"Who?" He asked.
"D-Dominik." I stuttered.
"Babe don't be silly. He's in jail and can't get out." He said cupping my cheek.
""No, no he's out, he escaped, he's going to kill me or worse, kill you." I said beginning to have a panic attack.
"Babe. Babe calm down." Cole said putting both of his hands over my shoulders.
"I can't calm down. He's out because he called me from a phone that isn't from the jail." I said.
"What?" He asked.
"He escaped!" I said breaking into tears. I felt so scared. I don't want anything to happen to Cole. I'd kill myself if something happened to him.
"Sky calm down. Even if he did escape I'll be right here to protect you." He said.
"That's what I'm afraid of." I said.
"Afraid of what?" He asked.
"You getting hurt because of me." I whispered.
"I'll be fine. Your safety is more important right now. I hate to say it but you're his target." He said. I felt a drop of water fall down my face.
"To get back at me, he'll hurt you." I said.
"Look, whatever happens, I'll always be with you forever and nothing will change that." He said, wiping the tear off my face with his thumb.
"Okay... I trust you." I whispered. Cole came closer to my face and kissed me. He pulled away and pulled me into his arms and cuddled me. We spoke until I was at least feeling calm.
"You feeling any better?" He asked.
"A little bit. Thank you." I said.
"Good, today we are going out so I want you to not think about that sick bastard and have a good time." He said.
"I'll try but I'm not going to promise anything." I got up and walked to the bathroom to shower.
Once I got out I did my hair and got into a cute but comfortable outfit.
"Okay I'm ready." I said walking out. Cole looked up at me. He was so handsome it makes me melt every time he looks at me.
"You look perfect." He said, standing up and walking over to me.
"I wouldn't go straight to perfect." I said blushing. He kissed my cheek and wrapped his arms around me.
"To me everything about you is perfect." He said connecting his forehead to mine. I shut my eyes and smiled to myself. "Anyway your majesty we should get going." He said.
"Your majesty?" I asked, raising both my eyebrows.
"You're my princess." He said.
"Right let's go charming." I said running out the door.
"Hey," He said, running after me. "Slow down." He said, as we approached the way out of the hotel.
"Sorry it just fun playing with you." I said giggling.
"I'll always catch you." He said, pulling me back into his arms again. "Come on let's go." He said, pulling me out the door. He took me to an amusement park and spent the day there, after that we ate dinner then took a moonlight stroll. We sat down in front of a lake and spoke for hours. I was beginning to fall asleep so we finally went back to the hotel. My heart nearly fell out of my chest. He was sitting on the chair on the bedroom, cleaning a gun. I was frozen in fear, I didn't know what to do.
"Hello love," Dominik said, smiling devilishly. "Miss me?" He asked.
"Drop the weapon!" I jumped at Cole's yelling voice behind me.
"I will not. You see I may have failed on killing her the first time but I will not fail this time." He shot the gun making me gasp and flinch. Cole pushed me down to the floor with him making Dominik miss his shot.
I screamed and curled up into a ball. I kept my head down, I didn't know what to think. I was scared for Cole but I was also thinking about this being the last moment of my life.
"Dominik don't you dare even think about pulling that trigger! You'd be killed for it! You've already killed your son, now your trying to kill his mother. Don't do this." Cole said trying to get through to him.
"I don't care about your pathetic words." Right when he was about to pull the trigger someone knocked on the door. Dominik rolled his eyes and hid the gun. He opened the door to see who I was, "What?" He said.
"Is everything alright in here? I heard a woman screaming." The worker asked, shyly.
"No we're all good here." Dominik said.

Cole's POV...

While Dominik was speaking with the woman I decided to give Grayson a text and a call. I told him to send help over text. The call was on but he knew to keep quiet. I needed this phone call to be active so everything could be caught over the phone.
"I said everything is fine!" Dominik slammed the door on the woman. I reached quickly over to the drawer and took out my gun.
"Dominik! Drop the weapon or I'll fire!" I said pointing the gun straight at him. He chuckled and pointed his gun towards me.
"What if I happen to shoot first?" He asked.
"Dominik drop the damn weapon! I will not ask again!" I yelled.
"Sounds like you're demanding me to do so. I wouldn't say you're asking me." He said.
"This isn't the time to be a smart ass and piss me off!" He chuckled again.
"Sounds like you're already pissed." After that reply I shot his arm causing him to drop his weapon. Scarlett screamed again and shook more than she did before I shot the gun.
"Shit! You son of a bitch, you'll pay for that!" I ran up to him and prevented him from getting the gun.
"Stay down if you know what's good for you." I said keeping the gun close to his head. At this point he was laying on his stomach with this hands behind his back. I kept my foot on his hands to make sure they stayed there. I wanted to comfort Scarlett but I have to deal with this motherfucker first.
It's been about an hour until I heard the helicopter outside.
"Finally." I whispered. "Sky? Baby, are you okay enough to go downstairs and wait for me and the others?" I asked. She looked like she wasn't sure but she gave me a slight nod and walked out.
"As for you," I said finally handcuffing him. "Let's go." I said. I took the phone and hung it up while pushing Dominik out the door.

We came home after a long day. I heard that they were going to take Dominik to get help. And by help I mean an asylum.
Scarlett still isn't over what happened today. Our vacation was definitely ruined in short time.
"Babe?" I asked.
"Yeah?" She asked sitting on the couch, completely out of it.
"You okay?" I asked sitting down with her.
"I thought you were gonna die. I thought I was gonna die. I was scared. I still am." I pulled her into my arms.
"I told you I'd protect you with my life." I said kissing the top of her head.
"Yes but I don't want you to die." She whispered.
"You don't need to worry about that. The biggest obstacle we had in our way of being happy has been removed. So be happy." I said smiling.
"I am. I just wish Jason was with us." She said tearing up.
"I know. I wish he was here too."

Just a couple of months later...

After a couple of months, Scarlett and I got married. We made the decision to put Dominik and everything bad and toxic that has happened in our lives behind us. We accepted the fact that Jason may not be here with us physically but he's here with us spiritually. Now we're opening a new chapter in our lives starting with the baby we are now expecting.
Opening a new chapter means opening a new beginning.
