Cole held me tightly and kissed my forehead, it was a sweet moment until my stomach grumbled. I felt waves of embarrassment flow through me, and heat rise in my cheeks.
"Someone's hungry." Cole chuckled and pulled himself away from my head to look at my face.

"I don't remember the last time I ate." I pressed my lips together and looked behind him refusing to make eye contact. He grabbed my chin and gently turned my head with his hand so that I would look at him.

"Let's go out for dinner, or would you prefer takeout?" His eyes dropped to my lips like he had a desire to kiss me. I waited for him to do it, but he just looked back into my eyes again, wondering what my answer would be.

"Wouldn't it be dangerous to go outside when Dominik is out there? He wants to kill you." Cole's eyes darkened but it was gone when he blinked it away in an instant.

"It might be a little reckless but we're going to be in public, you think he'd be that stupid to do something where everyone can see him?" He made a good point, but it still didn't take away the nerves in my stomach.

"You're right, let's go out then."

It was a really beautiful time; Jason was in his car seat sleeping peacefully while Cole and I finished our meals. We took advantage to learn more things about each other. He graduated college with a master's degree in criminal justice originally wanting to become a lawyer, but it didn't satisfy him the way he thought. So, he decided that he wanted to help people a different way by becoming what he is today and thank God for that. He also has a brother but moved halfway across the world and as for his parents, they didn't approve of Cole becoming a detective over a lawyer, so I guess their relationship is up and down just like me and my parents. He kept going about things I asked him like his favorite food, color, etc. My smile faltered and faded away quickly as I noticed that Dominik was staring at us from across the street, holding a gun in his hand. He lifted it and pretended to shoot Cole making my throat dry.

"What's wrong?" Cole asked looking at the direction I am, out the window. Cole stared out the window and got up from his seat putting his hand over his gun.

"Cole I can handle this just let me talk to him." Cole stared at me like I just threw a ball at his head.

"The hell you are, you're not going near him, over my dead body."

"And a dead body you shall be." Dominik said walking in and hiding his weapon in his pants.

"What are you doing here?!" Cole growled, he stepped in front of me while I stepped in front of Jason, people were staring and normally that wouldn't be something I'd be comfortable with but in this situation, I hope a lot are staring because Dominik can do literally anything.

"I'm here to pick up my fiancé and my son!" He glared at Cole as hard as he could probably imagining how he would kill him; it sent chills down my spine.

"Dominik take me but don't you dare touch him." I stepped in front of Cole, and it must have looked pathetic for Dominik to just laugh like I made a funny joke.

"Where will you leave our son?! With him?! He's a homewrecker Scarlett! You can't possibly be falling for his tricks!" He sneered.

"That's where Jason will be the safest, I trust Cole with my life and Jason's more than anyone and that includes you." My face was wet, I wasn't sure when I started to cry but all the frustration came over me, I just wanted Dominik to get thrown behind a cell and leave us the hell alone.

"Stop crying Scarlett, it's getting old." Dominik rolled his eyes and folded his arms actually waiting for me to stop. Cole's arms wrapped around my waist from behind me.
