I've been living with the skelebros for quite some time now, and they have to protect me from the outside world, seeing as I can't talk.

Sans walks up to me. "HUMAN Y/N! WOULD YOU LIKE TO COME WITH ME TO VISIT ALPHYS?" I shake my head, frowning at his sad expression. "AWWW! PLEASE, HUMAN?"

Aww, I can't say no to that face. I cross my arms and roll my eyes, but nod anyways. I smile at his overjoyed face. "YAY! LETS GO, HUMAN!" Papyrus walks over. "Hey bro, didn't they write on that paper to call them Y/N?" I nod my head.

Sans blushes and rubs his neck. "I'M SINCERELY SORRY, H—I MEAN Y/N. YOU HAVE A VERY PRETTY NAME AND I SHOULD USE IT MORE OFTEN." I feel my face turn a bit pink and Papyrus chuckles.

The adorable little blueberry sets me on his shoulders, causing me to squeak. He grins. "MWEH HEH HEH! LETS GO!" He then runs over to Alphys's house.

I'm shivering nervously, but I can't leave now. Hopefully I don't die. "HEY SA—Is that a human," Alphys asks, narrowing her eyes at me. I bit my cheek and wave nervously.

Sans steps in front of me and sticks out his arms. "BUT THIS IS A NICE HUMAN! YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THEIR SOUL! THEY'RE MY FRIEND!" I felt a pinch in my soul. Uh, ouch! I've been friend zoned!

Alphys clenches her fist. "Sans, this is serious! We need this last soul!" Sans looks at the floor submissively. "Ah, I see," he says, his voice lowering to a whisper. Wait, is he gonna let me die?

"I SEE YOU DON'T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE THE HUMAN'S FRIEND! MWEH HEH HEH!" Alphys makes an angry face. "IS THAT A CHALLENGE? I ACCEPT!" She shouts.

We proceed to befriend each other, and soon, Sans comes to pick me up. He enters the house and begins to talk to Alphys about when he'll get into the royal Guard.

I hear a loud thump at the door. Alphys gulps and her eyes widen. "Oh shoot," she whispers. "WHAT IS IT?" Sans asks. "Queen Toriel," she whispers. I gulp.

Alphys weakly mouths "sorry" and goes to open the door. Queen Toriel seems taken aback when she sees me. "A...human? Why didn't any of you tell me, my children?"

Toriel looks at the floor. "We need this last soul. Come with me, child." Sans stands defensively in front of me. "YOU CAN'T TAKE THEIR SOUL! CAN'T WE WAIT FOR A BAD HUMAN?"

She frowns. "I'm sorry, Sans, but this must be done." Queen Toriel proceeds to attack me, and despite my efforts to dodge, I get hit a few times.

I feel my soul start to split in twain. My eyes widen and I squeak out of fear. Sans rushes up to me. "Y/N, don't leave me here," he whispers. I make a heart with my hands and kiss his teeth gently. He kisses back. "I love you," He says.

And I feel my life leave my body as the queen collects my soul before it can shatter.

Sans POV, Time Skip

Nobody knows I have a shard of their soul. That's why the barrier won't break. I'm going to combine our souls together so I can have a piece of them with me again.

Papyrus walks into my room. "Sans," His eye sockets widen at the shard. "Bro? What're ya doing?" I put the shard behind my back. "N-NOTHING!" I say pathetically.

He chuckles. "Try again," he demands. I sigh. "ITOOKASHARDOFY/N'SSOUL ANDI'MGOINGTOCOMBINEITWITHMYSOUL!" He takes a step back. "So that's why the barrier won't break," He says. I nod nervously.

Papyrus puts out a hand. I hold the shard protectively. It's the last part of them I have. He smiles sadly at me. "Isn't this what she would've wanted?" Papyrus asks. I put my hand to my forehead. "STARS, YOU'RE RIGHT, BROTHER. I'M BEING SELFISH. I WILL GO RETURN IT NOW," I say sadly, realizing what he's saying is true.

We go to the castle and hand over the shard. "I'm sorry," I whisper. Queen Toriel smiles at me. "Thank you, Sans. We can all be free now," she says.

The three of us go to the barrier and watch it break. I feel a tear escape my eye socket, despite trying to hold it in. Soon, I give in and hug Papyrus, who picks me up and let's my ruin his hoodie with my tears.

I then hear a voice. It whispers in my ear "I love you, Sans. Don't cry. I'll always be with you." I smile, realizing it's Y/N. They'll always be there for me, even if it's not in real life.

And I quietly whisper back "I love you too."
