Third period, lunch
Triggers: Fluffy fluff. Please tell me if I missed anything.
__________Connor sat there for a moment, shocked by Evan's sudden boldness and the reaction that followed. He's the adorable one, not me...
Lying down on the pavement next to Evan and turning his head to face him, Connor reached out to place a hand on Evan's right shoulder, squeezing it once in effort to reassure the kid before him.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
His question was met with groans.
Connor took a deep breath and tried again. "Ev... we're literally soulmates. If we get all embarrassed at flirting... well, how're we going to do this whole relationship business? Come on, Evvy, I'm not sure what you're embarrassed about.
Evan turned his head and rested it against his folded arms, looking at Connor again. Connor offered a smile, glad he got some form of a response.
"S-so... you're n-not m-mad?"
As Evan spoke, Connor realized how close they were to each other. He still had his hand resting on Evan's shoulder and the two were only a few inches apart, really. Gulping down air to keep his cheeks from flaming up, Connor shook his head. "Nope." Why does he think I'd be mad?
"And I-I haven't r-ruined everything?"
"Everything? Every what?"
Evan gestured to the space between them. "Every-us."
"Nope. Not possible." Shifting forward, Connor swung the arm that was on Evan's right shoulder around so it was on his left, with his arm resting over his back. Connor was hugging Evan without really hugging him. "You're stuck with me, Evvy."
Evan smiled softly, making Connor's heart flutter. "Good," he whispered, shifting closer to Connor and on to his side. The boy wrapped his right arm around Connor's torso and clung to his shirt with his left hand, burying his blushing face in Connor's chest.
From the inside out, Connor melted. He tightened his hold on his soulmate, pulling him as close as he could. He smiled and rested his chin on the top of Evan's head. Everything that Connor needed was in his arms. For Evan Hansen, this beautiful boy, was his soulmate. The one he stood for. The one who brought out the best in him, the one he would never leave.
Although the ground beneath the two students was hard, rocky and slightly uncomfortable, they were perfectly fine within their small pocket of the universe. And they both planned to remain in that state.
Well, until the bell rang sharply for class, cruelly jolting them back to reality and putting an end to their hug. Dumb school bells, always messing everything up.
__________Note: Enjoy the fluff while it lasts, kids. It came quickly and will leave over twice as fast.
