Trigger warnings: Swearing. Please tell me if I missed anything.

Connor sat on the roof of his house, staring off into the distance. He could just barely make out the highway from here - a thin black band that wound its way around, vehicles seeming to scurry by, the size of ants. Connor wondered who was in those vehicles. Families with children? Pets? Maybe their were groups of university or college students, calling off a busy, stressful week early as they carpooled to the cottage. There could be people with their soulmates, going to their soulmates, leaving them. Starting careers, ending them. Starting lives, ending them. The possibilities were endless.

Speaking of soulmates and possibilities... Connor carefully descended and re-entered his room, leaving the window open as he headed to his desk. Reaching into the compartment where he kept his laptop, he drew it out and booted it up, pulling open a search engine.

'what happens to soulmate timer after', he typed out, not bothering with capitals or punctuation.

He began to scroll through the results. The program seemed to think he wanted to know the plot of some big film from late 2017 called 'Soulmate, After', or some cheesy shit like that.

Of course, the movie had to center around the 'perfect' pair. Blond, skinny, pretty girl with a muscular, tall, sexy male. Both were white. Both had no obvious physical 'flaws'. Had no mention of any disabilities, mental illnesses, or struggle for money.

Connor sighed, suddenly very frustrated. He scrolled back up, trying again. 'what happens to soulmate timer after meeting soulmate'. Enter.

He flipped through a few websites that seemed to be specifically built for anyone to create an account and post questions on anything, with the option to add it to a category or tag it so it could be found quicker. Then, any other user could contribute an answer, with a voting system making it so the answers most appreciated by the community would come up first. All in all, it seemed like a helpful program. He read through the first section.

I've recently met my soulmate, I'm overjoyed. But now I'm wondering, what happens to my timer?

Heya, Chloe! I'm glad you've found your soulmate. I found mine quite a while decades earlier (We're happily married, now. :) ) and studied up on these types of things a lot in my early teen years, so I'll be able to help you out here.

After you meet them, your timer shouldn't disappear or become a bracelet, tattoo, whatever like some movies show. It actually continues to count down - this time, though, until the next major happening between you and your soulmate(s). But people with multiple soulmates are born with multiple timers, so there could be two different dates there. Whether good or bad, it's whatever's deemed important enough. You'll probably figure out more about it as you go along, but this is what it does. I hope I helped you on your journey. Good luck, Chloe!

Ignoring the many replies and a prompt to create an account, Connor clicked off the page.He checked the websites that followed and was pleased to notice that the answers were consistent on a variety of platforms. Satisfied with his findings, he shut the computer and plugged it in before remembering another thing he'd forgotten to do while with Evan - get his number so they could contact each other more frequently if they chose to do so.
