The dinner was ready on time

The dinner was ready on time. We were huddled together beside the far end of the dining hall, looking at the students filling up and taking up their seats one by one, waiting for some metal heads to get their food.

"You think, that was a good idea?" I whispered to Katy.

"I think it was a great idea" she answered back, when robots started swarming around the hall carrying food and gently placing them in the table.

"Okay, here we go" I breathed, shutting down my eyes. The thought that I might've poisoned so many people has been tormenting me all the while. A pain in my elbow brought me back from my thoughts.

"Ouch, what happened Kat?" I cried. She was staring at Olivia, and gestured me to do the same.

"Oh, my god, they loved it" was Clarke who voiced my thoughts. Olivia was reaching for the 'berook' which I learned was some dish with beef and pork mixed. She must've really liked it. We all broke into a happy hug together.

"We did it guys!" Kat exclaimed.

"Yes, we did it, thanks to those metal heads" I replied laughing.

1 hour before

"Even if by some miracle we start right now, and make something we wouldn't be able to finish it before the dinner time" Clarke said.

We were all sitting down on the perfectly polished steel floor, nervously going through our odds.

"I know but we need to start at least, we are just wasting our time now" Alicia replied, looking nervously towards Merlin who hasn't spoken since we arrived.

"Merlin is everything fine?" I asked her, getting worried about her lack of interaction. She was muddled in her own thoughts but my words brought her back into reality.

"No, I was just thinking, thinking how that guy must be preparing the food for so many of them all by himself" she voiced her thoughts.

"But isn't it obvious? He must be using some kind of magic, which we still don't know if we a have control over" Alicia replied back.

"Yes, but there is something else we have control over" she said slowly turning towards the perfectly lined robots. I could have sworn that my eyes couldn't be wider, it was a brilliant idea, I'd rather say perfect. I could see that everyone else shared same feelings too.

"What are we wasting our time on then?" Alicia asked getting up, all excited.

"But don't you think it sounds too easy" I observed, "something on that old man's face told me that he wasn't going to give us something easy", I still thought he must be using magic.

"Come on let's try rebooting them on and giving them a command", Merlin said walking towards one of the robots. She reached on to the small panel on the back side of the robot and punched few buttons.
