Brambleflash woke up the next morning with a massive yawn. His homecoming, a few days ago, went WAY better than he expected. He expected Goldenstar to be furious. So mad that he had to kick him out the clan and he'd have to go join Leafclan. Thankfully, he did not. He rose up and trotted out the den greeting the cats who talked to him.
He padded to Goldenstar's den, just to make things less awkward. "Brambleflash!" The leader meowed and dipped his head. "Sunclan needs more warriors and try to convince your friend to stay." He eyes gleamed with amusement.
"Riley? You want her to stay? She's the 'Princess of the Sewers'" he said mockingly.
Goldenstar twitched his whiskers and turned away.
Brambleflash sighed then leaped down and entered the warriors den looking at the beautiful she-cat sleeping peacefully. "Riley." He prodded her in the side with a paw. She stirred and he called again and she looked at him afraid then looked around and her fur settled.
"I forgot where I was." She stood up and shook moss from her pelt.
Brambleflash blinked. "Is that so?"
She nodded and stretched. "Very different from the sewers."
Brambleflash twitched his tail impatiently then asked, "Do you think you could stay in Sunclan permanently and not go back?"
"You want me to stay with you?" Her tail shot straight up happily.
Brambleflash's heart sunk when he realized she wanted to stay specifically with him. He could never love—not even like her the way he loved Dawnfern. "No, well—yes! I mean— not just with me, the whole clan. By the way, Goldenstar wanted me to ask you." He stuttered.
Her tail dropped down, noticing that HE wasn't asking her. "Umm, can you take me to Goldenstar?" She asked quitetly.
He nodded then a pang of sadness washed over him but quickly disappeared when she picked her tail and walked out with pride, not caring what the clan cats had to say about her.
Goldenstar smiled when she came over and looked at him. "Goldenstar is it?" He nodded. "I am princess of the cats in the sewers and this means I have to give up my place as leader." Brambleflash and Goldenstar shifted uncomfortably. "But, I accepted your offer in becoming a clan cat and your loyalty is mine. Ive seen the way you live and it's very organized and if you would like, I know lots of cats who would like to join."
The deputy and leader's tail shot up and Goldenstar opened his mouth.
"On one condition..." she interrupted him. Their tails went down in fear of what was coming. Brambleflash thought it was going to be something massive such as taking place of Goldenstar or him.
"I want him to show me how to live here." She flicked her tail at him and didn't even look at him.
"I'm sorry, what?" Goldenstar twitched his tail, hope shining through him.
"I want him to teach me. Like your apprentices. I could be his."
Brambleflash dug his claws I got the earth, not knowing what to say and do. He swallowed as Goldenstar nodded. "Brambleflash, I want you and a few others to train the city cats—"
"Sewer!" She corrected. "We are very different from the city cats."
"Train the sewer cats." He finished.
"She's too old to be my apprentice!" Brambleflash complained.
"Then she's your shadow." He grunted.
Brambleflash looked at Riley then at Goldenstar with shock.
"I will go with you two to gather the other cats." Goldenstar announced. "Brambleflash you're in charge and stay at the camp." He flicked his tail and Riley and he walked across the grass, gathering a few warriors to go with them.
How could he be so gullible? He was weak from the desperate need of more warriors to allow random sewer cats to join. Brambleflash shivered and prayed that all would go well.
