Obsession

Chapter 12

"I feel like I haven't seen you in days!" Anna exclaims when I get out of my car. She rushes to me and jumps into my arms. "I missed you!"

"It has been a while actually. But we know what you've been up to," Rue says with a sly grin.

I hang my head to hide my embarrassment. "Yeah, sorry about that."

"So... how is Kai in bed?" Rue asks without hesitation.

"Rue!" Anna snaps, smacking her on the back of the head. "That's none of our business. Unless you want it to be," she says, looking at me. Her bright green eyes are begging me to spill the tea, even if she's pretending not to be as nosy as Rue.

The three of us have been friends for a long time, so lying is out of the question. They'd only call me out on it and make this whole, painfully awkward situation worse.

I look down and sigh. "It wasn't that great."

"Really?" they both ask at the same time. "I mean, he's so...hot. I figured it would be amazing," Anna says.

"For real," Rue adds. "What went wrong?"

"I really, really don't want to talk about it. Can we just hang out and have fun today?" I ask.

They both look perplexed. I've been gushing over Kai for so long, I'm sure they thought I would combust into tiny pieces when the time actually came for us to do it.

Rue's eyes narrow into slits. "What did he do?"

I chuckle at her predictable reaction. She's always acted like my big sister, even thought she's not that much older than me. "He didn't do anything wrong. He was a perfect gentleman. It was just...not what I expected."

Anna smiles sympathetically. "The first time never is."

"I mean, I know that. I didn't expect it to be great or anything, I guess I just expected...more."

"Was he a one minute man?" Rue smirks.

I stare at her in confusion, but then it finally dawns on me. "Oh! No...no, it was...longer than I wanted it to be."

Rue starts laughing hysterically, but Anna just looks at me like she's trying to solve some sort of difficult equation inside her head. "So, was it like...painful?" she finally asks.

I throw my head back and growl in frustration. "Please, just drop it! I just want to have fun today."

"Okay, okay," Anna says, holding her hands up in surrender.

"So I guess I'm driving?" I ask, looking around at the empty parking lot of their apartment complex.

Neither of them have a car since they live so close to campus. If they ever need to go anywhere, they usually just use my car.

Before either of them have a chance to answer, Leo's car pulls up next to us and stops. He sticks his head out the window and grins. "Can I give you pretty ladies a ride?"

I look at Anna like I could murder her where she stands. She only shrugs. "We do!" she tells Leo, hopping into the back seat with Rue.

I stand in the same spot for a few seconds, contemplating just leaving them and going back home. I don't want to be around Leo. Especially not today. But then again, I really don't want to go back home either.

"Don't worry, I won't bite," Leo says with a wink.

I hurry around to the passenger side before he catches a glimpse of my blushing cheeks. After we're all in, Leo drives away. I busy myself with my phone and stay quite while the three of them carry on a conversation.
