Chapter Eight

"It wasn't suppose to happen."

"I didn't do anything. You know I'm the one who told you that they won't met."

"But still, they did."

"Because humans have the ability to go against their fate."

"But one of them is no-"

"Let me rephrase what I said: Love can make anyone to fight against their fate."

"Do you think this is good? They only have limited time."

"Hmm... It will depend on them on what they will do if the time comes."

"Thank you for your efforts officers! Our Science week is a success! Cheers to that!" Kimmy exclaimed and raised her glass of white wine.

"Cheers!" They all said and raised their glasses.

And yes, Science week was already done and it was a success. Now, they were having a celebration after a week of too much stress and weary.

"And of course, I want to say thank you to my cousin Claude and his best friend Gusion for accepting the offer to be our photographer for the event. Thank you cous and Gusion!" Kimmy once again raised her glass to Gusion and Claude who did the same.

"Alright! Let's enjoy this night!" Kimmy said and all of them screamed in joy.

But of course, they weren't the kind of people who would get drunk. The only liquor they were drinking was white wine. They were already twenty so they were in the right age to drink such.

"Hey Les."

"Oh, hi Gus. Having fun?" She asked when he sat beside her.

"I'm hesitating actually since this party is for your organization." Gusion said as he casually leaned on his chair and drank on his wine.

Lesley hit his arm and chuckled, "Nonsense! You know we are thankful to you and Claude. You even sacrifice your one week class for this event so you are included."

"I told you, it was okay since we were already on our last year. Our professors even recommended us to accept the offers to us. It was like our second on-the-job training." Gusion smiled.

"If that's what you say." Lesley said and shrugged.

They were silent for a while though Lesley noticed that some of her co-officers were looking at their direction, giving them weird glances, especially the girls.

She shrugged. Maybe they were just jealous because Gusion is sitting beside me.

"Lessie?" She heard Gusion called her.

She felt her heart skipped a beat with that but she just ignored it. No one calls her in that nickname. Mostly, they would just call her Les or Lesley.

"Hmm?" She hummed because she just ate a bit of cake, the fork was still in her mouth as she looked at Gusion.

Gusion's lips quirked up in a smile that made her breathing stopped for a second but she just hid it through a frown.

Gusion then chuckled and raised his hand to wipe off something on the side of her lips.

She removed the fork in her mouth from too much shock because she didn't expect that.

"Uhh... thanks?" She said with confusion.

Gusion was still smiling at her and they didn't notice that they were staring for quite a while until one person decided to butt in.
