Prologue

Thranduil's POV:

Thranduil walked through the forest next to Elodiel. Today was a special day. "Happy Birthday my love." Thranduil said to her. She smiled. "Thank you Nîn Herven." (My Husband) They came to a stop and Thranduil held her hands in his. "We shall have a party tonight for your birthday. It will be the most wonderful party you have ever seen." Elodiel laughed brightly. "A party all for me? You are to much Thranduil." He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Oh but it will be a magnificent party. We must have it." She then wrapped her arms around his waist and stared to reply then her smile faded. "What is it Elodiel?" She was starring past his shoulder. He turned his head around and saw Sauron and a hoard of Orc's a bit away from them. "Quick." He started to lightly push her into a cave. "We must hide." But it was to late. Sauron had already spotted them and arrows were shot. Then it all happened so quickly. Arrows flew past his head as he heard a gasp. Thranduil spun around and saw an arrow embedded in Elodiel's chest.

Her knee's gave away and he caught her before she touched the ground. He starred at the arrow sticking out of her chest. Blood was spilling out onto her dress. "No...please Elodiel..." He gasped out as tears began to flood his eyes. Tears were also spilling from her eyes as she reached up and placed a cool hand on the side of his face. "Let me go Thranduil. Go protect our son. Keep him safe." Then she took her last breathe and her hand dropped from his face. "No!" He screamed. Tears spilled from his eyes and he was sure his scream could be heard from the castle. He looked back towards the Orc's and saw they were racing towards him and now lifeless Elodiel. He picked up Elodiel's body in his arm and whistled. He hid behind a large tree to avoid the arrows. His Elven elk raced towards him and he jumped on still holding onto Elodiel and raced away.

Thranduil raced up to the entrance of his palace and jumped off his Elven elk. Guards rushed up to him seeing Elodiel in his arms. He walked into the castle and rushed up to his bedroom. He opened the door hastily and placed Elodiel on the bed. Legolas was in there looking at his mothers story books that she had read to him before bed. He was only about 15 in human years so he was around 50 in elvish years. Legolas looked up from one of the story books with a smile ready to greet him. Then his smile faded as he saw his mother. He raced torwards him with tears in his eyes. Thranduil embraced his son and let him cry. "W-who d-did it?" Legolas stuttered. "Sauron." He muttered angrily. "I'll get him one day. I promise Nana..." Legolas whispered. (Nana is mom in elvish)
