Her Secret (Nalu fanfiction) (Completed)

The next week or so...

After getting up and grabbing the food and water Lucy left me, I started to head back, still angry. It took about 2 and 1/2 hours to get there, close to what Luce had estimated.

When I arrived, Happy flew up to me and asked, "How did the job go? What did Lushy say? Where is Lushy?" I had completely forgotten about the job or what I was going to tell Luce!

I face-palmed myself and told him, "Something came up and I couldn't take her on the job. I decided to stay at her house and help her with what she was doing."

"Well, did you at least get to tell her? What did you even have to help her with?"

"Sadly, no I didn't get to tell her and I can't tell you what I was helping her with. It's a secret. Plus, I promised Luce I wouldn't tell anyone, not even you, Happy." Mira must've figured out what we were talking about and called me over to the bar. Happy went to the group and waited for me.

"So, Natsu," She said with a smile, "Why couldn't you tell Lucy that you love~ her?"

I replied through gritted teeth, "Because I was helping her with something personal and she would rather have had a snuggle buddy rather than a boyfriend at the moment." Mira stared at me angrily and scowled at my lame excuse.

"You will tell her when she gets here tomorrow."

"Um… about that, Mira," I shyly responded, "….Luce won't be coming back for about a week or so because of her biss…. "

She glared again, looked away and told me, "Fine. You will tell her when she returns tho. Got it?" "A-Aye, sir!" I said as I started to walk away from the bar.

"Oi, Flame-brain! Over here!" I walked over to Gray, Erza, Wendy, Carla and Happy who were eating.

"What is it, Ice-pick?" I replied slyly.

Gray put his hands up defensively, "I just wanted to know how your job with Lucy went, bro."

The rest, except Happy, said, "Yeah, how'd it go?"

I coldly asked, "Happy, did you tell the whole guild what my plan was?"

Happy sheepishly admitted, "A-Aye sir…. "

"What exactly did you tell them?"

"U-umm… W-Well you were going to tell Lucy some-thing important on a job you picked out… a-and t-that's it."

"Good." I nodded and looked back at everyone else.

"Any~way, we didn't go on the job because something personal came up for Luce. I decided to help her with it but I can't tell anyone about it 'cause I promised her I wouldn't." I shrugged and sat down next to Erza. She asked what the job was supposed to be.

"It was supposed to be a simple job that would've taken a few days. We were requested to guard a wagon of valuables to Hargeon. The pay was good and we could walk instead of ride, so I decided to go for it."

Erza  asked, "Wasn't Hargeon where you and Happy met Lucy?"

"Hmmm," I thought for a moment, "Yeah! Yeah, it is! I didn't even think about that."

"So Lucy-san," Wendy began, "met Natsu-san in Hargeon? When?"

"Well," I answered her trying to remember," I ran into her in X784 and then there was that 7-year gap and then the 1-year I left and the guild disbanded and then Zeref's war began in X792 and ended in X793 and finally were here."

Carla summed it all up to, "So, you have known Lucy for 9 years."

"I guess we have. And that's all thanks to pryo, over here." Gray said as he patted me on the back.

"Aye, sir!" yelled Happy. After that, Happy and I headed home and went to sleep.

The next 11 days were boring and depressing without Luce. Everyone kept on asking when she would be coming back and all I could say was she had personal business to attend to. I went on a couple of jobs so I could pay for Luce's window I broke at the beginning of all this, my powers had been acting up since I transformed so I ended up taking easy jobs. When I wasn't at the guild or on a job, I was at her house trying to clean it up and make it look normal. One day while heading to her house with a white rose because I thought she would like it when she got back, but when I got to the front door I caught a whiff of a familiar scent, honey, and strawberries. I dropped the flower and ran inside. When I saw who it was I about broke down crying right in front of her.

"Hello, Natsu," Lucy said turning around with her natural smile across her face. "I'm back~"
