It had not been long when Marinette realized that they were lost. Tikki had advised her to follow the path, but Marinette took another route, thinking it was a shortcut. After traveling for a while, they stumbled across the abandoned castle of Prince Nathaniel. Marinette was amazed, she had always thought the lost prince was a myth.
Leaving Tikki outside, Marinette wondered inside the castle. There were velvet curtains, hanging from Long glass windows. The walls were covered with a royal-themed wallpaper and the floor appeared to be marble. There was also a large grand staircase, leading to two sides of the castle, in front of her. Despite its dim lighting and dark and gloomy appearance, Marinette was astonished by the sight. As she explored further, she saw a couple of servants, talking to one another. Once they took notice of her, one of them, a young man with blonde hair and wearing a white catsuit, walked up to her.
"Good day, M'lady," he said. "The name's Chat Blanc, welcome to our fine home."
He took a bow and lead her to a seat. The others treated Marinette well, except for one of them, who started complaining about their master would react to an intruder in his home. Marinette was enjoying her time at the castle when a loud roar was heard. A mysterious figure leaped out but remained hidden in the shadows, the servants stepped aside as the figure got closer to Marinette.
"Who are you?" His voice was dark and raging. "How did you get here?"
The young girl barely had time to reply, the figure grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the dungeons below the castle, where he threw her in a cell. Once he was gone, Marinette started crying. What's going to happen to her? What is going to happen to Marc?
"Marinette?" Came a familiar voice. "Marinette!"
The voice echoed through the walls of the dungeons, but she knew full well who it was.
"Marc," The bluebell girl called out. "Marc, over here!"
Marc followed the voice and his heartbeat quickened when he saw his sister. He ran to her and grabbed her hand through the cell bars. Marinette quickly warned Marc about the one who put her in there and instructed him to run back home. Marc insisted on staying and confronting him. Well, he did not have to wait long for the figure appeared, still in the shadows. The servants, who had noticed Marc in their castle, had followed him and once they got a good look at the boy, they knew he could be the one.
"What are you doing here?" Marc winced at the dark voice.
"I've come for my sister," the dark-haired boy replied. "Please let her go, I'll do anything you want."
"There is nothing you can do," the figure said.
Instead of backing down, Marc tried to get a closer look at the silhouette, by squinting his eyes and trying to focus.
"Who are you?" Marc said, squinting his eyes. "Come into the light, so I know you are telling the truth."
The figure hesitated for a moment but soon complied. He stepped out of the shadows to reveal himself as the Akumatized prince, causing Marc to gasp. He wore a torn white shirt with swan-collar, red pants and a black and white striped cape with a symbol of a black circle with smaller red, yellow, and blue circles inside. Even with the alarming appearance, Marc could not help but stare at his beautiful turquoise eyes.
"I am Evillustrator," he introduced himself. "There, now leave."
Marc thought for a moment before an idea came to him. It was something he could never give up but for Marinette, it would be worth it.
"What if... What if I take her place?" Marc offered.
"You," Evillustrator began, concerned. "You would do that for her?"
Marc nodded, and Evillustrator's soft expression turned into one that is cold and serious. "If you do, you must promise that you will stay with me... forever."
"Marc, NO!" Marinette exclaimed, worry-filled her voice.
Marc looked down on the ground, "I promise."
Evillustrator opened the cell door, allowing Marc to dash in and embrace his sister. But their heartwarming moment was cut short when Evillustrator drew up a black horse and carriage, which immediately appeared outside. Then he grabbed Marinette, pulled her out and threw her inside the carriage. The horse took off with the young girl, screaming in protest. Evillustrator went back inside to find Marc, crying his eyes out.
"I didn't even get to say goodbye," he sobbed. "Now I will never see her again."
Evillustrator looked at the crying boy with pity and concern. Chat blanc and the Bubbler (an Akuma with blue skin and dark circles around his brown eyes, wearing a red, yellow, and blue suit with a bubble wand sticking behind him) were just behind them, whispering to him to take Marc to one of their guestrooms.
The red-headed Akuma turned to Marc and said, "I'll show you to your room."
"M-my room?" Marc questioned, looking up and drying his tears. "I thought this is..."
"DO YOU WANT TO STAY HERE?" Evillustrator shouted.
Marc immediately shook his head, got up and followed Evillustrator through the hallway in total silence. The Akuma could see Chat Blanc gesturing him to make conversation with the boy.
"So lovely weather we're having,'' he said.
At that moment, lightning flashed and thunder crashed. Chat Blanc and Bubbler facepalmed while Evilustrator turned red in embarrassment.
"Yeah, I guess it's not so bad," was Marc's barely audible reply.
They went back into silence, one more awkward than the last. This is going to be a long night
