At some point in this chapter, Roger looks at Rissa with the facial expression seen in this picture (after Brian says something), in case I didn't describe it well enough. Please remember to vote and comment if this chapter got you SHOOK!
I tugged my skirt down my thighs, adjusting my stockings as I walked through the long, white hall leading up to Roger and Freddie's flat. I was looking forward to this night. I had made plans to get Freddie alone and squeeze some answers out of him, answers I would've gotten a lot sooner if Roger wasn't so damn good at playing the drums and managed to record a song in one take.
I took a deep breath, reminding myself that I had no reason to be nervous around the boys anymore, before I raised my hand to knock on their door.
Roger invited me over to celebrate the fact that they had just finished recording their first song off the album. I couldn't not go, I wanted them all to know that I supported them fully.
It opened almost immediately and I was greeted by a grinning Roger as he pulled me inside, quickly wrapping his arms tightly around me as he greeted me.
"Clarissa, nice of you to finally join us! You're late, the party's already started." Brian called from their small living room as I pulled away from Roger.
"I would've been here on time if you guys didn't ask me to show up an hour before my shift was over." I laughed, walking towards the rest of Roger's company before greeting Brian, John and Veronica with a hug.
I turned to Freddie as he stepped out from the kitchen, a drink in hand as he looked at me, smiling slightly.
I misjudged his friendly smile and went in for a hug without thinking, wrapping my arms around his small body as his arms awkwardly hung in the air.
That's when I remembered that I have never given him a hug before and I totally made a fool of myself.
No one seemed to notice as the rest of them were chattering on about a topic I had no knowledge of when I quickly turned away from Freddie, closing my eyes tightly as I mentally slapped myself in the face... hard.
"I adore that skirt! I must have it! Where'd you get it from?" Veronica grinned widely as she walked up to me, eyeing my entire outfit with a pleased expression.
At least now I felt like less of an idiot.
"Oh, the store I work at! The same place John got those boots from." I smiled happily, looking down at my outfit. I was proud that I didn't decide to wear my ratty old trousers, you know, the ones Freddie called "dreadful."
"I think I should stop by there some time, maybe we can grab a cup of coffee or something too." She winked.
Was I finally making a friend that I could have real girl talk with?
"Here you go, we have a ton of these so drink up." Roger placed a cold bottle of beer in my hand, twisting the top off before he took a sip from his own.
"You look absolutely stunning tonight, Ris." He smiled and took my hand, leading me to the couch where everyone else was gathered.
"A toast, to finally recording our first album!" Brian called as everyone raised their drinks before taking large gulps.
I took a small sip from my beer, raising my eyebrows when I realized that cold beer was a lot better than the room temperature stuff they always served at the bars. I could get used to this.
"Freddie, what time is Mary showing up?" Veronica questioned as she leaned forward.
"Oh, she couldn't make it. She has some family dinner, or so she says." He seemed uncertain, muttering the last bit under his breath. He looked down at his drink the second he caught my eyes on him.
