CARE, ELENA, AND I were running, trying to catch up to them; to save them. However, I smelt sweet vampire blood once we got to a clearing. Vampire blood smells and even tastes more heavenly than humans'. Or at least, that's what I've been told. I stopped when I smelt it, and so did Caroline. After we stopped, so did Elena, running a little farther than she had anticipated, due to running so hard.
"What is it?" Elena questioned, out of breath.
"They've been here," Caroline explained.
"We can smell their blood..." I bent down, inspecting a plant; It had blood on it. I felt the red blood rubbing against my fingers.
"What?" Elena asked worriedly, looking between me and a nervous Caroline.
Caroline and I turned when we heard rustling, then a familiar voice and face: Mason Lockwood. "What are you three doing out here?" He questioned, his eyes boring into mine.
"Have you seen Stefan?" Elena asked, though she knew he had.
"Yeah Elena, I've seen him. Seen Damon too," Mason answered, walking closer to us, us backing away with his eyes still glued to mine. "Kind of surprised your friend there hasn't joined them. Usually she's joined at Stefan's hip."
"Where are they?" Elena asked, narrowing her eyes at him. He was testing her limits. I could tell that comment also made her a little jealous.
"You don't need me for that. I'll let your friends here sniff them out," Mason answered, looking over at us, then speaking to Caroline. "Does your mother know what you are? I'm happy to tell her," he threatened. Caroline and I moved towards him, but he caught Elena from behind, putting his arm next to her head in a way so that he could snap her neck and kill her. "Don't be stupid! Necks snap easy around here."
"We can take you," Caroline determinedly said to Mason, looking him up and down, then looking to me. I gave her a small nod and looked back at Mason with a fire in my eyes. Nobody hurts my brother (and Damon) and gets away with it.
"Wanna bet?" Mason asked, looking between us. He was begging for a challenge from us, so we'll give him one.
"Yeah. We do," Caroline replied, speeding to him and grabbing him, pushing him up against a tree. Elena was pushed away from Mason, so I sped over and caught Elena, helping her calm down for the one moment I had. I watched Caroline knee him in the no-no spot.
"I told ya," Caroline said, matter-of-factly. She pushed him down on all fours, then kicked him in the stomach hard enough for him to go flying into a tree! Wooo!! Go Caroline! I'd hold up a styrofoam finger if I had one. "Come on," Caroline called to us, as I walked with Elena behind Care.
