ELENA AND I were sitting together in the living area with Rose there too. All of a sudden, Trevor ran inside. His eyes were wide and he looked terrified. He seemed out of breath. "He's here! This was a mistake." He was running around frantically and Rose looked at him with a hint of sadness in her eyes.
"No, I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me," Rose said to him, her eyes locking to his. He doesn't deserve her. Not at all. I wish I could say that out loud but you don't normally tell your captor she deserves better, do you?
"No! He wants me dead, Rose!" Trevor exclaimed, still frantic and worried.
"He wants them more," Rose assured him, tilting her head towards Elena and I. Oh great. Us, the pawns in their little plan. Or maybe the treasure? Elena is for sure, but I still don't know why he wants me.
"I can't do this. You give them to him, he'll have mercy on you but I need to get out of here," Trevor said to her, his eyes dancing around the room as if he were cat following a laser. He was terrified.
"Hey! What are we?" Rose asked him seriously, eyes locking to his.
"We're family," Trevor replied softly, calming down, "forever." He and Rose nodded and then we all heard a knock on the door. The pounding echoed throughout the room. I saw panic flash in their eyes and Elena pointed out the obvious:
"You're scared."
Rose looked at Trevor and said, "Stay here with them, and don't make a sound." He nodded to her and she nodded back in acknowledgment before running to get the door. I'm a bit scared myself. Contrary to popular belief, not all vampires are gallant heroes. I'm just a girl who was forcibly turned and thrown into this vampire lifestyle. It's been years and years, but that doesn't stop me from being scared sometimes. I've got feelings like everyone else. And this man who is here... Well he is literally what we vampires tell as scary stories. Now that I know he's real... That he and his family have done everything in those "fables"... Well I'm terrified. What does he want with me? I am not a part of the curse like Elena, I didn't double-cross him like Trevor... So what?
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard Elijah and Rose draw near to us. I heard the clacking of Rose's shoes and my eyes went wide. Elena gave me a concerned look, and I felt helpless. I wouldn't be able to fight off Elijah to save her if it came to that. I'm weak and have no way of fighting off an original. At least, not without a white oak stake. If that's even how you kill them. I'm sure they're completely immortal or something, they probably only made that up for the fables so that we wouldn't be too scared of them. I bet if I used wood to stake him now, he'd just pull it out and stick it into me and laugh in my face.
