"Hi, baby doll," Shelby greeted as he walked over to Norma.
Norma took a quick, deep breath and smiled, trying her hardest not to look fake.
"How was work, babe?" Norma asked, wrapping her arms around Zach's waist.
He was taken aback but smiled and returned the gesture.
"Work could've been better but Romero is so obsessed with you. He's trying his hardest to get you but don't worry, he won't get in between us," Shelby stated confidently, leaning down and kissing Norma's neck.
Norma felt her heart race to the thought of Alex looking for her. She knew he was probably looking out for her sons. They were only kids and she would be upset if something happened to them.
"Have you found out anything about my sons?" Norma asked
"Romero wouldn't tell me where they are but I think he's hiding them," Shelby replied, gripping Norma's hips and pulling her closer.
"Zach," Norma whispered, lacing her fingers in his hair.
"Hm?" Shelby responded, slowly pushing Norma against the wall.
"I want to be with you...romantically," Norma whispered, her heart racing and breaking at the same time.
She used to have romantic feelings for the officer until he kidnapped her and drugged her up. He now made her feel sick to her stomach and she hated it.
Zach pulled away and looked Norma in her eyes, "Really?".
Norma nodded and leaned in, kissing his lips roughly.
-
"I'm home," Alex stated, walking inside and shutting the door.
Dylan walked out of the guest bathroom upstairs with a toothbrush in his mouth. He walked over to the top of the stairs and looked at Alex with hopeful eyes but lost the excitement when he only saw Alex.
Dylan walked back to the bathroom and finished brushing his teeth. Alex sighed and walked over to the couch to a sleeping, brown-haired boy.
Alex sat next to the boy and gently rubbed his back, feeling saddened when he saw the tears on the young boys face. Suddenly, the boy woke up and looked at Alex.
"Is my mommy here?" Norman asked, sitting up slowly.
Alex shook his head, "Not yet bud, but she'll be here soon.".
Norman nodded; he was only ten and needed his mother. Dylan was fifteen and needed his mother too, but not as much as Norman needed her.
"Let's get you to bed," Alex whispered, picking the young boy up.
"Can I sleep with you tonight? Dylan kicks in his sleep," Norman whispered, laying his head on Alex's chest and shutting his eyes.
"Yeah, that's fine," Alex replied, walking to his room and looking down at the now sleeping boy.
Alex smiled and walked into his bedroom, laying Norman on the bed; the side closest to the window. He covered him up and walked over to his dresser, grabbing grey sweat pants and a white t-shirt with some boxers.
He walked into the bathroom and shut the door, sighing as he looked into the mirror. He had dark circles under his eyes and his hair was a mess. He had been a mess since Norma went missing and he hated that she had some type of power over him.
Alex rolled his eyes and unbuttoned his shirt, then throwing it on the floor. As he gripped the bottom of his black undershirt, his phone started ringing. He grabbed it off of the bathroom counter and rushed out of the bathroom and bedroom, going downstairs to the living room.
"Romero," Alex answered
"Sir, we've found a lead to the missing person case," Deputy Lin stated
"I'll be right there," Alex said, hanging up and running upstairs.
He grabbed his shoes and grabbed his leather jacket, not caring about his uniform work shirt, and left.
-
Norma laid under the sheets, her body bare disgusting as she laid on Shelby's clean sheets. She felt sweaty and tired, both emotionally and physically. She was getting Shelby to trust her very slowly and her decisions had to be picked carefully.
She turned her head and looked at the sleeping blonde-man. He was sleeping like a baby and seemed as if he didn't have anything to worry about, but he would whenever he got caught.
Norma shut her eyes and sighed; she sat up and grabbed an oversized, white t-shirt and her underwear, then walking out of the room and to the downstairs bathroom. She turned the shower on and quickly got in, cleaning her body as quickly as possible and getting out.
-
"One of our deputies?" Alex asked, looking at the papers in his hand.
"Zach Shelby. His finger prints were all over the wine glasses and coffee table," Deputy Lin explained
"Get a warrant so we can search his house," Alex said, giving the paperwork back.
Deputy Lin nodded and watched as Alex left the station.
-
"What the hell? Who knocks on people's doors this early in the morning?" Shelby snapped, then opening the door.
Zach held his breath when he saw a messy looking Alex at the front door.
"Sir?" Zach asked, scrunching his eyebrows as fear rose inside of him.
"Are you going to invite me in?" Alex asked, his face stoic.
"I'm not decent," Shelby replied
"I don't care, I just want to speak with you for a few minutes," Alex explained.
Zach nodded and let Alex in. Alex walked over to the couch and sat down, watching Zach go to the kitchen and start coffee.
"You want some?" Zach asked, grabbing a cup.
"Sure," Alex replied, looking around the house for any types of clues.
A minute later, Zach walked over to Alex and handed him the cup, then sitting across from him.
"What can I help you with?" Zach asked, sipping his coffee.
"One of my deputies found your DNA on wine glasses in the Bates house, they also your DNA in the living room. Care to explain?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow.
Zach put his cup down and stood up, quickly walking to the kitchen and grabbing a paper towel and covering it in chloroform.
"She invited me over to her house for dinner, and then..." He trailed off.
Zach walked up behind Alex and covered his mouth and nose. He tried to fight back but his body went stiff and everything went black.
Zach sighed and ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. He had to hide Norma and Alex.
