Norma looked into Alex's eyes and nodded.
"Okay good, we're going to swim," Alex stated
"But the drop is so far down," Norma whispered, looking fearful.
"It's okay, it'll be fine, we need to hurry though because we're almost out at sea," Alex explained quickly.
Norma nodded and got closer to the edge. Anxiety took over and she backed away.
"I can't do it," Norma whispered.
Alex nodded his head, "Yes you can!"
"No I can't!" Norma retorted.
Alex grabbed Norma's arms and pulled her to him, grabbing her face gently, and kissing her. Norma was stunned but kissed back. She closed her eyes and let her heart take over. She knew she had feelings for Alex but she now realized that she was in deep.
Alex, all of a sudden, pulled away and looked at Norma's closed eyes. He was about to say something but he heard heavy foot steps getting close to them, making Norma to open her eyes and look behind her.
She looked at Alex for an answer and a second later, he grabbed her hips and threw her over the side of the boat. Norma screamed but caught her breath right before she fell into the water. She quickly swam to the surface and looked up at Alex who was still on the boat.
"You're not going to get away with this," Alex snapped
"I bet you wish those words were true," Shelby chuckled, shooting Alex with the gun in his hand.
Alex fell against the rail and Shelby quickly pushed him over. Norma screamed in horror as she watched his body splash into the water. Norma swam towards him and helped him swim once she got ahold of his body.
"Let's get out of the water," Norma whispered as she watched the sun fall, the sky now a deep purple and blue.
"Are you okay?" Alex asked as they swam to the shore.
"I'm fine, but you're not," Norma replied.
Alex was holding his wound under the water, scared that he would bleed more than a usual cut would bleed.
After about ten minutes of swimming, they were now on the rough sand. Norma helped Alex onto the shore and laid his head on her lap as they caught their breaths and relaxed.
"We've got to get some help," Norma whispered, looking down at a tired looking Alex.
Norma lightly lifted Alex's head, and put it down softly as she got up and ran to a home that sat beside the beach. Norma quickly knocked on the door and an older woman answered the door. She was shocked to see Norma since she had been in the news for the past weeks.
"I'm sorry to disturb you but I really need you to call an ambulance, Sheriff Romero has been shot!" Norma said as quickly as she possibly could.
The woman understood all of Norma's jumbled words and ran to her phone, calling the police and an ambulance.
Norma ran back to Alex, ignoring her aching body, and quickly sat down, slowly putting his head back on her lap.
Alex looked asleep to Norma, he definitely wasn't dead because she saw his chest rising and falling, but she also saw the blood from his wound.
"Oh my- why would you do this, Alex?" Norma asked rhetorically, still thinking that Alex was asleep.
"You're one of the most stubborn officers I've ever met but you're one of the best. I can't believe you let someone shoot you!" Norma stated, feeling upset with herself.
"I wish you hadn't gotten into this mess," Norma whispered, caressing Alex's cheek with her thumb.
As they sat there, Norma heard the sirens and she became overjoyed. They were finally going to be okay and get out of this huge mess.
"Alex! Wake up!" Norma whispered yelled, shaking him gently.
Alex opened his eyes slowly but closed them right after, feeling too tired to even look at the love of his life. She might not have known but he knew and that's what mattered the most to him.
Norma scrunched her eyebrows when Alex didn't open his eyes like she knew he would. She nudged him again and started to fear the worst.
As Norma examined Alex's somewhat relaxed features, she felt weird. She felt her heart skip six beats and butterflies erupt in her stomach as the feeling of calm washed over her.
Norma then felt a hand on her back which brought her back from her deep thinking.
She looked up and saw an officer and a medic behind the man.
"Norma Bates?" The officer asked
"Y-yes," Norma responded
"This medic is here to take Sheriff Romero to the hospital as well as you, but she can't bring him because you haven't let him go," The officer explained
"Oh, sorry," Norma apologized, moving her hands away from Alex reluctantly.
A group of medics put Alex on a stretcher and a singular medic helped Norma walk to a different ambulance.
-
Alex woke up to the sun in his face and someone holding his hand. He hoped for it to be Norma; he begged for it to be her, but when he opened his eyes, there laid a redheaded woman in the place where the beautiful blonde should've been.
He groaned and rolled his eyes, shutting them after, hoping that when he opened his eyes back up, that Norma would be by his side. Alex opened his eyes again after squeezing them tightly, only to see Rebecca still there.
-
Norma woke up to two children on either side of her. She smiled and pulled them closer, having missed them dearly. She looked around the somewhat empty room and sighed. Her mind was wondering and it had brought her back to when Alex kissed her.
She felt the spark even if it sounded cheesy. She knew she liked Alex; more like loved. Her breath was always taken away when he was near.
She wanted to see him, in that exact moment and he had the same idea.
Norma slowly crawled out of bed and covered her boys up. Dylan opened his eyes and looked at his mother.
"Where are you going?" Dylan asked
"I'm going to go see Alex, I'll be back," Norma replied, walking over to Dylan and brushing his messy hair away from his forehead, kissing him there.
Dylan shut his eyes and smiled, glad that his mother was okay.
Norma quickly left the room and walked down the hall, stopping when she saw Alex looking into a room and groaning in frustration.
Norma smiled and ran to him. He looked up and felt relief course through him as he opened his arms for Norma to go into. She ran straight into his embrace and hugged him tightly, making Alex cry out in pain.
She released him and covered her mouth.
"I'm okay, it's just a small cut," Alex whispered, pulling Norma back to him.
Norma scrunched her eyebrows and placed her head on his chest, feeling happy that she was with him.
