chapter 1

Sara's pov

  "You told me you'll be here on time, Vanessa.But like always you chose to come late"

"It's not my fault that there was traffic" she said getting out of the taxi. We walked around my block. Not having a lot to do. Vanessa had suggested that we go to the movies but neither of us had money. So instead we walked around mu block to get ice cream.

"I didn't know that Ms. Johnson was moving"  I turned my head to see what she was talking about. Ms. Johnson was moving. Everyone on the block knew that.

"Yeah, she decided to move. Since her husband passed away" I cleaned my hand with a napkin sine ice cream was dripping on my hand."Mr. Johnson died!?! Since when?" Vanessa didn't live around here anymore. She moved West from us. Mr.Johnson was alive when she left.

"He surfered from heart problems remember?  He's heart was never really in a good shape, so to speak" We walked passed her house and walked in the direction of my own.

  " You leave town for a while and that's what happens? " I knew that she was being sarcastic. I rolled my eyes at her.

"Her Vanessa. I haven't seen you in a while. How's your mom?" Mom was out in the front yard watering the plants.

"She's fine. She misses you"

  "Tell her to come visit me then" Vanessa and my mom had this agreement that they would come visit eachother each month. Mom visited last month and now it was time for vanessa's mom to come.

"I'll tell her that" I told mom that well be in the backyard. It was too hot to be in my room and I didn't want want a mess in my room.

"I have some good news" vanessa said as we dipped our feet in the pool.

"What?" I questioned her, eatting my ice cream.

"Eventhrough, I'm a little far from your  school, dad let me transfer schools" she had a grin on her face and I jump from excitement. Knocking my ice cream from my hand and into the pool.

"Your lying to me!!?" I wanted to sream but I knew my mother would tell me to keep it down so I whispered yelled it.

"I'm not lying to you. My dad told me I could. And besides you won't have to take the bus anymore. I'll be able to drive!!"  More exciting n
