"Babe?" - Anne mumbled when she lifted her head waking up from her sleep.

Tzuyu's hand still rested on her head, playing with her hair carefully, while she was still reading, not even noticing that Anne woke up.

"Babe?" - Anne asked again, slowly closing the book in Tzuyu's hand.

"Hm?" - she asked, looking at Anne with bloodshot eyes, obviously she was crying.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. It's okay."

"We agreed on sharing, right?" - Anne asked sitting up, cupping Tzuyu's cheek. The girl nodded, biting her lower lip to suppress her cries. - "Good. Where have you got up to?"

"Day 159." - she answered flatly.

"I see." - Anne whispered, pulling her in for a tight hug. - "You know that you don't have to read it all today right? I mean it's eight o'clock. And you didn't sleep at all."

"I'm just scared that I'll miss something. Because seemingly you went through many things in the past years and I missed it all."

"You know it's not your fault, right?"

"If I told you that Minsun was back, you wouldn't leave. It's my fa-"

"Don't you dare say it." - Anne said quickly, putting a finger on her lips. - "It was my coward decision. Okay?"

"But if-"

"No. There's no 'if'. It happened." - Anne said slowly. - "And it's okay. It's okay, because now, we're here. And I appreciate you more than before, and I really hope we can trust each other more than last time."

"I just can't believe it. Anne the things that happened with you...they're just plain bad."

"I don't want you to pity me okay?" - Anne asked, silently. It was exactly what she was afraid of, Tzuyu blaming herself for the things that happened to her.

"It's not that I pity you, but Anne...you were tortured."

"I stole from them."

"But you didn't deserve that, being marked with a heated iron and knives. It's just crazy that it could happen."

Anne knew that Tzuyu wasn't wrong. When she got caught by the local gang, she was furious. She wanted to go to the police. But they would've arrested her and she could never come home. That wasn't a thing she would've risked. You might wonder how Anne has gotten herself into a situation like this. Actually, Mafia Capitale was the gang where she got her drugs from. Once she couldn't pay but she needed it bad, so there was no other option but to steal.

She could've gotten out of it worse. They burnt the word larda on her waist and all of the gang members cut once with their knives. Anne didn't just stop stealing from them, but it was one of the first signs for her about how dangerous and unhealthy the life she lives is.

"I know. But there's nothing I can do now. Let's just be happy that they didn't kill me." - Tzuyu sighed as she leant in Anne's embarace.

"How did I not notice the scars yet?" - she asked.

"I don't think I was shirtless in front of you."

"Can I take a look?" - Anne nodded as an answer and slowly pulled her T-shirt over her head.

Tzuyu felt her heart ache when she met the sad blue eyes. Ever since they met, Anne was never ashamed of her body. But now, she was, even if she didn't try to hide it. She was still well built and slim, but for sure, her body was disfigured by the scars.
