I call to you with mournful sorrow,
As I've never pulled you near.
I've never returned the dazzling kindness,
That lit my days oh so long ago.
I beg you for forgiveness,
As you probably know by now.
I promised you my heart,
But instead I give you yours.
I assure you it was not from lack of trying,
And you never did me wrong.
I've locked my heart inside me,
And lost the key oh so long ago.
