If I told you I love you
I wonder, would you turn away from me?
Or, if I let it be,
Would my feelings crumble to dust
In the endless expanses of time?
If by some miracle you smiled
And said I love you too
What then?
Would we do what lovers normally do?
I don't know the answer
But I can say
That if you were mine,
You would never feel like you were in a bind,
You would never feel another woe
While I hold you close in my arms like so,
I would never run out of love to give
As long as we both shall live.
But with this love comes a certain kind of fear
One that I would never want for someone so dear.
For I cannot take away the stares
As strangers walk by and glare.
I can't shield you from their comments
Or their righteous tones,
As they try to save us
From our fall to down below.
How silly to think
That Hell is where I'm headed
Because of a love I bear for you.
It leads me to wonder,
If that's the destiny God had in mind for me.
If that's the price to pay,
It will have been worth it
For your presence is sweeter,
Than any heaven I could find in the sky.
But that's only if you would accept my care
Though I fear that's not the case.
So instead I extend my hand in friendship
And wish you happiness in your journey.
As I extend my hand please know
That all my love is there.
Included with all the things
That are better left unspoken.
Note:
I do realize that this is a completed book. However, I was feeling inspired today and thought this poem would be the perfect addition. Thank you for all who have read my book and took part in this journey. It means a lot to me to know that there are people out there who enjoy what I put out into the world.
